I mean, like, what do they train you to do when you join the army? If I joined a fire fighting team, I would be trained to put out fires. Presumably, you would say that my job description is to put out fires. If I were to join the army, I would be trained to _________. Presumably, you would say that my job description is to _________.

It depends on the MOS. The US Army has a wide range of jobs they train you for, most of them, oddly enough, having nothing to do with killing. They can train you as a firefighter, in which case your job description is to fight fires. They can train you as a cook, as a plumber, as a parachute rigger, as a laundry service technician - basically, any job you can think of, they'll have people trained in it.

The ultimate goal of any military force is to kill people and take their oil, but it's not like that's in *everybody's* job description.
