The girlfriend in the video has no distinguishing features or personality other than 'lying whore', and the mother is a disturbing combination of oedipal nurturing safety and sexual conquest as a vehicle for the characterless male lead to reassert his dominance. The boss is simply a representation of a higher status rival, though there are oedipal themes here as well. I can only conclude its appeal is that it allows the viewer vicarious vengeance and satisfaction by projecting his own insecurities and power fantasies onto the bland and featureless plot and characters.

John Holmes Motherfucker See, i don't agree. We see most of this through the eyes of the young woman, and that encourages us to empathize with her. It makes us feel the burn more.
Revenge plays are never heroic examples to be followed. They're guilty pleasures, and you shouldn't expect them to be anything else. The characters are complex enough for the ten minute sketch. there's a re reason why they call them "sketches".
Making these characters more complex would have accomplished nothing. Nobody needs a machine with extra parts.
