Yet to finish watching but its great. I remember when ROTLD came out I was amazed a zombie flick could be laugh out loud funny, as distinct from the sly satire I found in some of Romero's stuff. And of course Fulci's zombie trilogy was not exactly studded with jokes.
Actually that same summer a guy who used to ride with the bikers from Dawn Of the Dead came in to the store, too. He said they made 0 between all of them and spent a good chunk of it buying beer for everyone at the bar that night. He wasn't in the movie, though.
I don't have time to watch all of this either, but this is definitely one of my favorite zombie flicks. Everything about it feels like a pulpy, fun, 80's era comic book that happened to come with a bonus surf/punk/whatever cassette tape that they encouraged you to listen to while reading.
Then the straight-to-video sequels came out and...well...fuck
