What a clever design idea to place huge, non-transparent letters on the center of the screen blocking all of the action the very instant the last hit is delivered. It truly helps understand what you are watching and makes for some fascinating viewing.
The player needs to be reminded that they are playing a game and that this is not real life. Hence the text.
Text has been added by the person who put this video together I think - it normally only appears when one player has exited the screen and not on the final hit (unless this is HP mode? idk - this is definitely a mod, anyway). Zero stars.
Also I don't think those are the actual in-game avatar icons, so.... yeah.
So, the video was altered in order to suck more? Oh then, I guess I was totally wrong then.
I wonder if anyone else realized smash brothers characters all handle like Kirby from the SNES.
Terrible fighting game, unless you're playing with people who have lives and don't know everything about it.
If you are taking this game as a "serious" fighting game then yes, you are doing it wrong. This is another party game, plain and simple.
Back in college we had an n64 with this and bond. Bond was fun but you still had to explain what to do, spending many rounds simply not taking the shot unless you were kind of a dick. Smash bros was just plain fun. It was like you could never get really good at it and didn't really care.
Oh, you can get good at it. The only people I ever got to play it with was a group of guys who spent forever perfecting every single move and knew all that NERD SHIT fighting game crap like hit priority. They abused the shit out of the roll move which makes up 90% of high end matches. Then there was me asking for a 10 second time out so I could see what the character's moves were.
It has some pretty interesting mechanics. It's better than Virtua Fighter at least - but then what isn't?

Come on, we're better than this.
