Binro the Heretic - 2014-07-09
I was kind of expecting a furry version of "Dude, Where's My Car?"

THIS BOOK. It was recommended to me by my sociopathic fratboy boss at the insurance company I worked at after college. I can't believe there are grown people that are this devoid of life force.

Pope Caius - 2014-07-10 My grandparents had the audiobook and were listening to it as we were driving somewhere. I had no idea why they even had it, considering as they already retired long ago.

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2014-07-09
Didnt watch it all. This seems like the most heavy handed metaphor for something.. something evil I'm guessing.

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2014-07-09 Couldnt the message to workers be interpreted as: if you job is shit you should quit and find a better one?
Some critiques of what I watched.
Why 4 characters? why not just 2 the good exemplar and the bad one.
Why mice *and* little people !?
Obviously the whole thing is an awkwardly implemented heavy handed metaphor but then they go and actually spell out the metaphor "for hum cheese represented a good home etc."

Harveyjames - 2014-07-09 This is a pretty great, actually. "Hoist your flag to the strongest wind of your era" is an important lesson. Right now I work in comic books, and holy shit is it ever Empty Cheese Station C.

Rafiki - 2014-07-09 True story: a few years ago, management where I work recommended everyone read this book. It's really good for understanding and accepting change, they said. A short time later they laid off 250 people and sold the company. From what I've heard, this is a pretty popular book to give to people before layoffs.
I don't find it heavy-handed so much as an incredibly degrading and infantile way of telling you to go fuck yourself because businesses are going to make business decisions whether you like it or not. So rather than being angry that you or others lost your job, you just need to roll with it and move on.

Harveyjames - 2014-07-09 Yeah, it's fine for upwardly mobile professionals, sucks for people who just want job security. Not everyone wants to be a maze rat. But... having said that, no-one owes you a living, you know? There's no point in keeping a company running if it's no longer profitable. You gotta find your own Cheese Station N.

Hem is everyone working in comics. "hemmed in by fear, comfort and denial."
"I don't think I like new cheese. I want my old cheese back! I'm sure if I wait here long enough, things will be the way they were!"

My favorite thing about this book is that whenever someone recommends it they say "and it's such a short read!" When I finally read it, I thought it could have been one page long and get the same point across.
