Gumball is one of those shows that I immensely enjoy every time I happen to see it but I still haven't gotten around to just watching the whole thing.

It's really not linear, except for a possible love story that I caught (I can't remember the name of it, but it's my favorite episode; basically Gumball is in love with a peanut.) But it reminds me of The Simpsons before they decided they needed to kill off characters and such, without hitting the reset button every week. I like this because, much like the Simpsons, I couldn't catch every episode when I was a kid (pretty much S3-S8) because of homework, some music thing, or the fact that it moved from Thursday back to Sunday and my friend who had Fox couldn't watch TV on Sundays. But I could just jump in at any time. For a show aimed at kids, I honestly can't think of a better one.

Yeah, I don't need to watch everything in order, I just want to see all the episodes.

Maggot Brain - 2015-01-04

The Simpsons analogy is really fitting. It's like Homer from the more recent episodes married the Mom from Malcolm in the middle.

cognitivedissonance - 2015-01-02

They almost WERE us. Aelric and I wrote a spec script for this show that was passed on.

Killer Joe - 2015-01-02

So when are we all going to meetup online and develop a new show?

cognitivedissonance - 2015-01-02

Whenever, man. I can draw, I would love to build a show.

I've often wondered if a few people who may or may not be on this site are writers for Gumball. Cog knows all about this but I was writing a show aimed for Adult Swim with my then-housemates, but it's kinda like that Spacemen 3 "Taking Drugs to Make Music to Take Drugs To" philosophy with them, and the drugs won (the show's a druggy one but I am pretty straightedge in comparison to them so I was the only one doing any work.) It was sad because we had t-shirts made and an intro and everything, and then the wheels just fell off after we all decided that we wanted to kill each other. Part of that was the dynamics of the house itself: much like Lewis and Clark, everybody was relatively happy until the whiskey (or in their case cocaine) ran out in a cold Northwestern cabin where we didn't turn on the heat all winter.. so I think that show's toast but I didn't like the direction it was going in either. My scripts were a little more like this, like if Gumball was aimed for adults with adult language and violence, and theirs' had a dark and sort of hateful theme.. and not the kinda that works on a brutally violent show like Mr. Pickles.

Anyway that was a long little rant, but I think it'd be really cool to run with this. Much like Portal's humor (great game by the way, just played the entire thing the other day) seems to me anyway to come straight from the poe-red/news forums, this would/could be sort of be the amalgamation of the stuff we see every day on here.

Very well. Each project needs a strong, powerful man with a sixpack and windswept hair to tame the lesser men, bring them into line with a glare and a sneer.
I will be that man.
So uh... google group to present our half-baked pitches to each other or what?

infinite zest - 2015-01-03

I think FB's POE page is closed to the public, so we could probably just do it all on there. There's a lot of talent here and we might as well go for it.

Aelric - 2015-01-04

I can't even watch a full episode. After they made an episode that used some of our ideas almost a week after we submitted (granted, they didn't steal from us, just beat us to the punch).

It is funny that PoETV seems to like it now, Cog submitted a video from it when we were writing that spec script to feel out how you guys would like it and you shit all over the show.

Aelric - 2015-01-04

Ugg, they had OUR gnome joke, with Brian FUCKING Blessed as the voice. FUCK!

fluffy - 2015-01-04

Which video was it? I don't see any low-rated video in cognitivedissonance's history that looks like it could be it.

Caminante Nocturno - 2015-01-03

Chilling in its accuracy.

Sanest Man Alive - 2015-01-03

I also like Gumball for how they cram so many different animation styles into the same show. It's almost schizophrenic.

Maggot Brain - 2015-01-04

Schizophrenic is a big over reaching. Characters are drawn to mach up with their family, ie, the Watersons are all rectangles with round edges.

fluffy - 2015-01-04

Every character's heritage comes from a different background and universe and they still follow the rules of that universe.
