Mr. Purple Cat Esq.
I really like R&M but I prefer Roilands earlier random internet videos. They are 100% wacky shit. R&M is a mix of Roiland wacky shit and more mundane family drama stuff.

Mr. Poopy Butthole looks kinda like "stab sex kid" from Unbelievable Tales.

jangbones
if you enjoy popular culture, and have not seen this episode, do not watch this

R&M is one of the best programs on television right now, and this was the best episode of the season

go give the stupid show a shot first, then you can either join the parasites like me or move on to being annoyed at all the fanboi idiocy
fluffy
Have you seen the whole season already?

Everyone says it's great, all the clips I've seen that are supposed to demonstrate this ... don't. Help me love Rick & Morty poetv.

It's an animated comedy on Adult Swim, so they just focus on the funny parts for their clips. Just like Stephen Universe, you really can't get too much out of it. It's kind of like if The Simpsons came 20 years later and Fox released little clips from its best years. I don't think I would've liked "Dental Plan.. Lisa needs Braces" on its own, especially if I hadn't watched the show yet.

The clips they choose to publish usually aren't even the best part of the show. I said it before but I didn't necessarily like the first episode or two all that much: Rick's little green drool stain and burping got on my nerves, and I didn't like the "we're probably going to get cancelled" jokes (The Simpsons did those first and better) but the show became something incredibly magical as time went on.

Also, like The Simpsons, it's a show you can pretty much jump into at any time. There is vague linearity, but you could watch this episode first and then the first episode of season 1 and be fine.

fluffy
I disagree that you can jump in any time. There's sort of a subtle canon and callbacks, and a lot of what makes this episode so funny is how it's subverting a lot of what happened in prior episodes. I mean the core joke relies on the fact that these characters have never been seen before.

It's taken me a long time to get passed the burping, but I'm glad it finally happen.

i think what a lot of people don't get is that rick & morty is a visceral reaction against the "monument to mediocrity" that seth mcfarlane built with his numerous shitty franchises. if you pay attention to many of ricks rants throughout the first season you'll notice his emphasis on craftmanship and disdain for sloppiness theirein, hence the quasi-mcfarlane esque animation style that belies the high concept material of the show. if you're into quantum theory or sci fi there is not much to dislike about this thing.

SolRo
it's a brilliant gag.

This episode was great, especially with how they changed the intro.
Caminante Nocturno
Being trapped in the elevator was an unpleasant memory involving Mr. Poopy Butthole...
Bort
Nah, they were saved by Cousin Nickie, so it was tense at first but then there was a lot of joy. Same with the Nazi submarine.
