Heh.. I've never been to NOLA but that's where my ex moved after we split up; she got rid of all her winter coats. I check the weather down there periodically since the temperature usually drops lower than Portland's at some point in the year.

Worse is a kid living in Jersey in having bitterly cold, snowless winters then seeing schools closed in MOTHERFUCKING TEXAS because of a snowstorm there.

Any amount of snow around here will close schools and businesses and send people in droves to the grocery store for meat, milk, and bread. It's hilarious. We're totally unequipped to deal with it.

It snows here every couple years, and it's kind of fun and frolicky and everything's closed.. my first year in Wisconsin it was like "wait, I still have to go to class?" and 6 months later.. "goddamnit really? It's fucking may! MELT!

I love fresh and still-falling snow...it's the best weather phenomenon ever.
