I put this up without realizing it was in the hopper already, but this is actually a good faith submission, unlike that one. Have at it in the comments.
memedumpster - 2016-09-22
You did realize it was in the hopper because you downvoted it an hour ago. Come on, what the actual fuck?

And what the fuck is a "good faith submission?"

I was only gone a week.

memedumpster - 2016-09-22
Here's your stars, poeTV Hero.

StanleyPain - 2016-09-22
I downvoted it after I put this one on the site and then looked in the hopper. Are you aware of how front page privileges work? The video doesn't go instantly on the site...it takes about 30-60 minutes for a video to hit the front page when someone with front page permissions submits a video.

"Good faith" meaning I submitted it for people to discuss however they want (good or bad) without having to frame it in some whiny anti-POETV narrative (and not using the video title) about how we're all so horribly P.C. because some user is upset we don't think his shouting "nigger" repeatedly is totally edgelord maaaannnn.

memedumpster - 2016-09-22
The videos yesterday had a turnaround of a few minutes to almost immediately.

Yes, I know how front page privileges work, now. You see a video you don't like in the hopper, you downvote it. Then, you realize others are voting it up anyway, so you hopper poach it and make sure the first post out the gate an alibi most people wont check. You do this as a form of policing of users in the name of "good faith."

You did that on a video talking about letting YouTubers have a lot of the same power over each other. Good job.

I titled and described it the way I did as a joke, because I didn't imagine anyone on this site would do the shit it was talking about.

"I downvoted it after I put this one on the site and then looked in the hopper. "

That doesn't even make sense, if you're so certain you just hit submit and it will go through, call it a DUPE. At least to create a better alibi.

Good faith my fucking ass.

Oscar Wildcat - 2016-09-22
Soon you will gain new superfluous-powers, such as the ability to suspend accounts...indefinitely! Unleash a shitnami of vindictive moderation and soon Youtube might even pay you.

memedumpster - 2016-09-22
You know, Stanley, this is probably why YouTube disabled its videos, people like me.

So let's look at this completely on your side. You accidentally duped a hopper video, it happens. You look in the hopper, see that it is duped and then you downvoted me. Not the video, which you agree with, but me, personally. This is why it pissed me off.

Ten years on this site and every accidental poaching has resulted in the other video making it through and it being a laugh.

You have tons of reasons to hate me personally, we agree on literally zero beyond this video, but you couldn't have known it was me. It's stupid to be offended.

I am sorry. I really am, and you have every right to be pissed. Assuming it was an accident, I'm just an irritated asshole.

But really, man, you downvoted a video you know you just accidentally poached? That shit is cold, brother. I feel no faith in that.

EvilHomer - 2016-09-22
On the down side, the way poeTV is going, this will end the internet once and for all. I know Hillary and Trump both want to do this, but Google is looking to stay on top of things by beating regulators to the punch. If meme and SP can't even get along, what hope have the rest of us?

But on the plus side, I gotta admit, I would love to have "shitnami unleasher" on my official resume.

Caminante Nocturno - 2016-09-22
Sooner or later you're all going to have to start getting over orcs.

Oscar Wildcat - 2016-09-22
Apparently he's scarred segments of the userbase for life? The Portal must be functioning at peak efficiency.

Oscar Wildcat - 2016-09-22
Besides we're losing sight of the magnificent fact that StanleyPain is our first POETV Hero. Huzzah!

memedumpster - 2016-09-22
If 9-11 taughts me anything, it's that we get over these things by Christmas.

GravidWithHate - 2016-09-22
So, it was my up-vote that tipped the scales on this. I was going to comment right away but I thought: "Naaaah, that's crass, let this breathe and see how the conversation develops". And apparently I'm back in high school, blundering ignorantly through tensions and relationships that are completely opaque to my dim self. It's a reassuring feeling in a lot of ways.

Old_Zircon - 2016-09-22
Without Orcs we're turning on each other.

GravidWithHate - 2016-09-22
Ah, it was the other video. See? Dim blundering.

bawbag - 2016-09-22
'Without orcs...' we have comments again, from people with shit to add.

memedumpster - 2016-09-22
I take offense at the implication what I add is worthy of even being called shit.

But ghost stars for GravidWithHate being GravidWithPatience. I repent for I am terrible too.

Oscar Wildcat - 2016-09-22
And so the legend grew. Of a stranger. Who one day came, junk sick and cranky, to yell "Nigger!" in the hallway and stab street urchins in the neck the in parking lot of the 7/11's of our collective unconscious. Who was that masked man? Some obnoxious cunt, to be sure. But resplendent in his cuntiness. A cunt for the ages.

EvilHomer - 2016-09-22
God, I was going to make a joke about Google, China, and the Cultural Revolution, but they're really going all-in with this game-ifying obedience concept that China pioneered, aren't they? I mean, this is well past satire. They're literally offering you "hero points" for snitching on your neighbours.
EvilHomer - 2016-09-22
"Comments disabled / 230,000 dislikes"

At least the kids are still alright.

memedumpster - 2016-09-22
I think Google has decided to let the proles sort themselves out based on using the site mechanics, with point rewards, to make them all stop whining about google proper, and just each other.

If you want to see how this works out for new videos, check out Kongregate, where you get rewarded for one starring games as fast as possible. Last time I looked, all the top games are three or so stars from where they get hit with the initial wave and never fully recover, even at the top.

Gmork - 2016-09-22
Are you fucking kidding me, youtube?

3,700 upvotes, 223,000 downvotes

Yeah, seems about right.
Pillager - 2016-09-22
/s I don't see how this could be abused at all...
That guy - 2016-09-22
It's foolproof.

Caminante Nocturno - 2016-09-22
It's like the dumbest children in the world read 1984 and learned all the wrong lessons from it.
Oscar Wildcat - 2016-09-22
I was thinking more "Lord of the flies" by Golding.

Caminante Nocturno - 2016-09-22
A modern day Lord of the Flies would be a bunch of 20-somethings slaughtering each other over the progressive stack.

Nominal - 2016-09-23
What is this "Lord of the Flies" you speak of....OH Golding ok I wasn't placing it there for a second.

Oscar Wildcat - 2016-09-23
I feel compelled now to point out authorship as the number of remakes, reboots and gritty kitty litter multiplies to fill all available space.

Cena_mark - 2016-09-22
A more accurate name would be Youtube Blue Falcons.
EvilHomer - 2016-09-22
Stars for you.

EvilHomer - 2016-09-22
Sort of unrelated: what is "Giant Woman"? Friend of a gal pal is talking about learning it on ukulele, wants me to help; apparently it's got something to do with Steven Universe?

Cena_mark - 2016-09-22
It's a song from the Steven Universe episode of the same name. Steven first learns about fusion and wants to see to see Pearl and Amethyst fuse and turn into a giant woman, but they don't want to.

EvilHomer - 2016-09-22

I'm flagging that video, because it is CLEARLY pornographic.

Cena_mark - 2016-09-22
That's a stretch. Fusion isn't even the equivalent of sex. That's just what noobs think. Fusion is about the relationship between the fusers. It's not sex.

EvilHomer - 2016-09-22
"I want to see a giant women"?!

You've been on the internet. You KNOW what he's talking about. Giant Woman fetishism is completely unmistakable.

EvilHomer - 2016-09-22
Oh, and fusion, too. You're right, that is sex also.

Cena_mark - 2016-09-22
If you banned cartoons for fetishes then you'd have no cartoons. MLP:FIM has spawned the cloppers.

EvilHomer - 2016-09-22
Clopping is an organic outgrowth of plot. The MLP writers did not include any SFW fetish material until at least Season 3.

Gmork - 2016-09-23
Homer knows he's completely full of shit, but he couldn't stop his act now if he wanted to. He's so far down the joke rabbithole that he's become the exaggeration he was mimicing.

Nominal - 2016-09-23
Maybe some day he'll admit that Cena Mark is his alt. Guy started out as an obvious devil's advocate troll, but Homer grew old and lazy so now it's just a sock puppet account to "ironically" discuss children's cartoons.

EvilHomer - 2016-09-23
I'm sorry, Nominal. I'm not judging you, your weird fetishes are your own business, and you're perfectly entitled to have them.

I just want this SICK filth OFF my internet!

bawbag - 2016-09-22
Terrible idea youtube, not least because you could... I dunno, maybe fucking employ people to do this rather than just have reddit/4chan mass flag shit to your admins who then have mountains of crap to decide on.

If they really want to clean up the comments sections, make them paid entry and pay some employees to moderate what remains a la fark or metafilter.
Cena_mark - 2016-09-22
Word. Instead they pay people in points and "special privileges" that turn out to be some other job they should be paying someone to do like testing the new features.

memedumpster - 2016-09-22
This looks like a continuation of the demonetizing of corporately unfriendly emotions, but I think it will backfire. Imagine you're trying to sell Applebees Cookies ads on videos about food, and you look at YouTube's stats and it tells you half the videos are flagged for being "fascist" and the other half are flagged for being "fascist."

I think we should all get DailyMotion accounts while the available server bandwidth is in our favor.

Old_Zircon - 2016-09-22
If Youtube employed people to do this they might be held accountable for the results.
