My last viewing of this film was a significant disappointment. I recall coming from my first viewing of it as the best movie ever. I can't argue that the actors weren't good, that the story wasn't interesting...but the last time I saw it I thought it felt terribly hacked together in places and lacked a real sense of caring about what happens to anyone involved in it. It felt more like Scorsese saying "hey I read a cool book and here's all the scenes I imagined from it". Maybe I just dwelt more on structure rather than story having seen it several times already.

Outside of that, the Gabriel soundtrack is possibly the greatest film soundtrack ever.

Also, I miss these guys.

I dunno, I thought it was a bit of a stretch when Jesus recovered from having his back broken by Bane so quickly.

Married to the Mob: a different kind of religious experience, but no less valid.

In some slightly parallel universe right before he flips the tables in the temple and wrecks all the stone age cash for gold businesses Jesus yells THERE WAS A FIREFIGHT
