Out of curiosity, is there a 'cunt' tag?

Either that, or 'victim-blaming'?

Marlon Brawndo - 2017-10-14

What the fuck??

I usually don't turn on older celebrities, but fuck this woman. I realize she's from a different generation and all but he was fucking molested, lady.

He handled himself surprisingly well here.

Meerkat - 2017-10-14

Seriously what the actual fuck?

il fiore bel - 2017-10-14

There are people who would rather pretend something wouldn't happen, or deny the reality of what was done to them. I wouldn't be surprised if she experienced similar harassment or abuse in her earlier years and was just told to "suck it up" or "boys will be boys," and was repeating the same stuff to him.

Also, some people won't support the reality that guys can and do experience sexual abuse. Apparently, it's something that only happens to bad men in prison.

Old_Zircon - 2017-10-14

There would people who would rather pretend that Woody Allen's career wasn't at least 60% hack garbage, and that's being charitable.

Hooker - 2017-10-14

I can't even wrap my head around her comment. Is there another interpretation of this that doesn't make her the worst cunt imaginable?

Also, Ron Swanson sighting.

Maggot Brain - 2017-10-14

yeah, why is Ron there?

That guy - 2017-10-14

...because right after this they did some woodshop??

TeenerTot - 2017-10-14

I'm going to be charitable here and interpret her as meaning, "that's incredibly brave to stand up against an entire industry!"

It's for my own good.

Cena_mark - 2017-10-14

Just like all those kids who damaged an entire religion when they demanded the pedo priests be brought to justice.

Maggot Brain - 2017-10-14

How brave of Barbara to speak on the behalf of boy-lovers everywhere! Bravo, Barbara. You are a true American hero!

Old_Zircon - 2017-10-14

This is why I've never been down with the Feldman mockery, it's not like he was keeping this stuff was exactly a secret.

Maybe now we'll find out if his claims about Spielberg (which aren't too far afield from the premise of Crispin Glover's "What Is It?" - he is on the record saying that it's actually a metaphorical depiction of Spielberg's role as an enabler of of systematic child abuse in the film industry) are true.

Marlon Brawndo - 2017-10-15

i hope that's not true. But even if he only knew about it and didn't expose it, it would be so horrifying when you think about all the movies he directed with kids.

I still don't understand how Bryan Singer is still allowed to make movies in Hollywood.

Old_Zircon - 2017-10-15

I just double checked an I'm wrong about Feldman and Spielberg. Crispin Glover has said some stuff about Spielberg but apparently in Feldman's autobiography he names Spielberg and Michael Jackson as the only two adults (including his parents) he was really safe around, at least according to reviews.

Old_Zircon - 2017-10-15

Between this and misremembering a bunch of details in Zappa's 80s political engagement I'm really losing it since I started having more important things to think about again.

Dan Schneider revelations in 3...2...1

BHWW - 2017-10-15

Hopefully the fallout from the Weinstein affair continues for some time, and spreads. Hollywood is in dire need of a reckoning.

Binro the Heretic - 2017-10-15

Oh, Jesus, fuck...

Barbara, seriously?

Fucking Hell.

cognitivedissonance - 2017-10-15

People in power abuse people not in power, but not to worry, the solution is to get rid of the people currently in power, replace them with new people, and hope they aren’t corrupted, instead of questioning the entire system the corruption is built upon, and ABSOLUTELY NOT comparing the corruption of (one politically partisan) institution with another (politically partisan on the other side) institution.

Remember that it’s important to feel like you can’t trust any institutions, so that the ones that can solve the problems of sex abuse aren’t emboldened to not merely solve sex abuse but also solve voter suppression, environmental desecration and wage slavery. Just make sure you repeat the mantra “Nobody can save us,” the narrative being pushed, and they won’t dox you, either.

Old_Zircon - 2017-10-16

But, but, I was born in the middle of the Carter years, so the last few decades I was taught that equal access to the tools of oppression was liberation.

Monkey Napoleon - 2017-10-17

It's also important to remember that you totally can conveniently blame the world's problems on a "system" that can be measured and quantified, and that all you have to do is tweak it slightly and then give the institutions that historically marginalize and oppress people more power, because that will fix it.

I think it's also important to remember that if you design something that governs the totally not random actions of large scale populations juuusssst right, you won't have any bad people who will leverage and organize to leverage the exploitation of the weak for their own gain and you can work on solving problems, one at a time, and then never worry about them ever again.

It is completely reasonable that you can hand human beings a perfect society that they never had to work for or care about or take an active role in and expect them to not completely fuck it up as quickly as possible.
