I'm still kicking myself for throwing out my unrated VHS tape when it got moldy years ago, instead of cleaning it. I just assumed that would always be the default cut of it going forward, who'd know that cut would never be released again in any format? I've tried to buy it a few times but I've always gotten one of the edited versions and had to return it.
I've never even seen the R or NC-17 cuts.
This is right up near the top of my list as far as best Ken Russell movies, it's criminally underappreciated.
Even The Devils finally had a restored cut released recently (although it's only available streaming on some obscure streaming service nobody uses).

Old_Zircon - 2018-11-16 As far as I've been able to determine, every DVD release is the NC17 cut. Most VHS is R or NC-17
Unrated VHS can be had for $2-$25 on ebay but fuck that.

Old_Zircon - 2018-11-17 What I'm saying is skip the DVD entirely and only check out the VHS if you look at the labelon the tape itself and it says "UNRATED" near the right side.

betamaxed - 2018-11-17 From what I've read so far on this topic it appears the only difference between the VHS uncut and the NC-17 international cut available on DVD is some bits of dialogue that were cut most likely to improve pacing.
It doesn't seem like if we watch the NC-17 that we're missing much or any choice content.
