John Holmes Motherfucker - 2019-08-30

There's a whole lot of short subjects: TV episodes, trailers, cartoons. It's all rendering now in a big long file. Assuming that it works out, I'll be able to post a fairly accurate and detailed schedule of programming. Here's the schedule for features.

Superstar 1:20 PM

Plan Nine 4:00 PM

Russ Meyer's Beneath the Valley of the Ultra Vixens. 7:15 PM

Lol Abner 11:45 PM

To be absolutely clear, "Plan 9" isn't the Ed Wood film; it's a clever remake-parody-homage, which reimagines the original as a modern zombie movie, and it sort of works, with a lot of references that fans will enjoy, and even a cameo from Conrad Brooks. In the tradition of Ed Wood, it took several years to get the funds to complete the production. Nice punk-oldie soundtrack.

I'm reviewing the complete file now, I'm almost at the end. When I'm done, I'll post a more detailed schedule in the Forum, but the important point I want to make here, is arranged so ththat the so that the most essential viewing takes place in the evening, beginning with BENEATH THE VALLEY OF THE ULTRA VIXENS around 7:15. That's when you'll want to join in if you're not up for the whole 14 hours.

I love SUPERSTAR. Opinions of the internet vary wildly about this one.
Bruce McCollough directed, and I think that in its sensibility, it's more of a Kids in the Hall film than a typical SNL film. I love the premise that Mary Catherine Gallagher is Carrie, and her telekinetic power is Jesus... but I think this might be for special tastes.

Plan Nine is a cool idea, with a lot of cool inside jokes, and great ideas, but it's also longer than it needs to be.

So if you want to miss the stuff that's missable, I'd say the line is around 7PM, when the Russ Meyer film is about to start.
