in before the haterfest

Jimmy Labatt - 2007-06-10

Wow didn't know there were any WZ haters out there. They were a pretty decent band in my opinion. Now Rob Zombie as solo artist I can understand...

HURF BLURF DUH - 2007-06-10

I always liked this song a lot. I got nothing against WZ besides the fact that everything they were, GWAR was ten times louder and better.

EvilHomer - 2007-06-16

To be fair, GWAR is ten times louder and better than EVERYTHING.

To this day, I still get a giddy feeling whenever I stumbled across the original sample or lyrical reference from a White Zombie song.

kingarthur - 2007-06-10

And Sean just had her 41st birthday...
Loves me some White Zombie.

kingarthur - 2007-06-10

And I want Sean's hat. The eight ball with devil horns top hat thing. Hell yeah.

Jimmy Labatt - 2007-06-10

Yeah I had a hard-on for Sean back in the day (think I was around 15 or so). She needs bigger tits but other than that flawless!

Severian - 2007-06-10

Never been a hater, but I've been an ignoramus. Excellent.

citrusmirakel - 2007-06-11

Mr. Zombie,

Attached, you will find a YouTube clip of "Thunderkiss '65". In case it doesn't immediately job your memory, you used to be a band that did this song, and several others of note, and even somehow put our a remix album that wasn't complete shit. Now, this was before those solo albums (we won't go into those), and way before you started making terrible movies that there was no reason to enjoy.
I just wanted it to put it to your attention that if you wanted to go back to doing stuff like the attached, you'd probably find support.

XO

Jimmy Labatt - 2007-06-11

Well put

Derrida - 2007-06-14

THE TRUTH

zatojones - 2007-06-11

Who the hell can hate White Zombie?

Afgh - 2007-06-11

This is easily the best song to ever sample "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!"

Testicles of Doom - 2007-06-11

Brings back so many memories.

In Robbie's defense, Hellbilly Deluxe was "OK".

Hooker - 2007-06-11

Well, there was a song or two that was okay, anyway.

onemorepanic - 2007-06-13

Thank you Beavis, thank you Butthead.

Stopheles - 2007-06-14

Ah, thick chicks in mismatching clothing and monster masks...how I love you.

I fear that I will age to be one of those guys who holds the time of his college years as the ideal. As it is, I'm already sort of a weird nostalgic sucker for 90s art-schoolisms...

(also, I can't hear this song without thinking of two things: the time that I saw WZ play a big-ass ballroom show and my girlfriend and I were knocked fifty feet apart in the crowd by the band playing the first two notes of their set (starting with "Spider Baby"); and the opening-credits footage of ECW's wrestler Raven throwing his arms into a crucifixion pose right as the world "FIIIIIIVE" hit the speakers.)

EvilHomer - 2007-06-24

Speaking of art-schoolisms, small LJ. Back when I was in high school, my art teacher's alma mater sent some guys to our class to try and convince us to go there. They showed us one of those videos showcasing all the wonderful things their graduates were doing... twenty minutes of sheer boredom and horrible animation, when BAM! The White Zombie scene from the Beavis & Butthead movie! Apparently one of their graduates directed that sequence, and I was nearly sold... only the presenter said something to the effect of "This next part isn't appropriate for class" and fastforwarded through the whole thing, despite our protests. He lost about a dozen prospective applicants with that move.

ABoyNamedCheese - 2007-06-16

Oh White Zombie...

(sniff)

I miss you.

theSnake - 2007-08-05

Haterfest? You can't properly hate a one hit wonder.

This is White Zombie's only listenable song and its very good. The only people that cling to them as anything more that a one hit wonder are the ones that deserve a haterfest. These are your typical hardcore horror movie fans that like any movie where someone wears a costume and kills someone else. Not sure what that means, but your taste in music isnt to be trusted because you judge bands based on how "horror" their stage show is. Might as well listen to Byonce if you're going by looks, she's easier on the eyes.

This song still rules though. So whatev.

Jimmy Labatt - 2007-09-08

Actually Snake, I think the whole album was pretty kickass (and I'm more of a casual horror movie fan). I actually prefer Black Sunshine to this one. I trust my taste in music; don't give two shits if nobody else does.

Glad you liked the song though

glasseye - 2007-09-10

I've always thought White Zombie sucked. Guess that makes me a hater.

WOO!

Stopheles - 2008-02-21

No, it makes you a knee-jerker who hates anything that could be considered remotely "metal" as some sort of payback for those mean kids in the smoking section of your high school.

j lzrd / swift idiot - 2008-07-30

White Zombie, baby.

You haters can go on back to Haterville and lynchmob some poor schmuck who uploads a kitten video; this shit will destroy your village.

Pillager - 2010-08-10

Didn't Russ Meyer direct this?

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2010-08-22

I saw White Zombie in the 90s, when they played Binghamton with the Ramones, who I believe were on their final tour. White Zombie were the headliners, and I had never heard of them. I was there for the Ramones. The old Ramones fans stood out from the teeny devil boppers.

After that show, I could easily be nursing a grudge against White Zombie if I was so inclined. To me, the whole thing seemed rigged so that the Ramones would not overshadow the Zombies. The lights went up immediately after the Ramones's 50 minute set so there would be no encore. And Zombie was easily twice as loud, and their set was replete with "Great White" style pyrotechnics. After the Ramones, WZ seemed pretty dull and lackluster, and their "Devil Music" shtick, seemed forced and derivative.

But let's face it, we can't all be the Ramones. This is a good song.
