The enthusiasm for Moog was huge when it first came out. I recall there was also backlash from rockists.

Gmork - 2022-12-11 Roland is okay but they're sort of the out-of-touch grandpa. They incorporate juno synth engine into the aira j6 but dont allow midi cc control of internal parameters. Big oof.
At least their grooveboxes are good. MC 101, 707, and the TR-8S come to mind. And of course their vintage synths are very good.
The system 1 plugout is better than most people realize but it's so weird and designed in such an offputting way that it never really got recognition.
But if you want a good modern synth, I'd go with a korg or dsi. Nord Lead2 or lead4 if you want a workhorse.
Personally I want the minifreak from arturia. The microfreak was the best investment I've gotten from a synth, and it doesnt even have internal fx.

exy - 2022-12-11 I too drool over the minifreak

Gmork - 2022-12-13 i meant to say system 8 plugout, the one with all the green lights
