We currently have a pit bull mix. We love her with all of our hearts and would be deeply upset if anything happened to her.

But we know better than to let her anywhere near another animal.

I've been around pit bulls my whole life. They love people. They're very sweet and friendly... towards people.

But unless they literally grew up with it from puppyhood, no animal is safe.

The problem is that pit bulls bite as often as other breeds, but they have the physical strength when they do to fuck up anything unfortunate enough to become the statistic.

Post vids of those breeds then.

I really do not like pit bulls, but I've been around some that were pretty good. I've also been around when a generally pretty well behaved pitbull went crazy ape bonkers and ripped a little girls face off. I know that's a completely anecdotal story, but if it had been any other kind of terrier it would have been punted through the bay window in seconds and not done nearly as much damage.

Belgian malinois are sheep dogs. They are bred to be smart and protective, and to herd livestock. My malinois never set one paw on a farm, but at the park he would just automatically (and gently) herd flocks of ducks and geese back into the pond, without ever being shown how to do it or rewarded for doing it. Because that's how strong the instinct was.

Pit bulls are bred to literally kill bulls. As in adult male bovines. Google 'bull baiting'; that's what those dogs do automatically, without any encouragement or training. They are completely without fear of injury or pain because it has been bred out of them. That's why they make such nasty fighting dogs.

Yes my malinois could have held his own in pretty much any fight, but the difference between him (and malinois in general) and every pitbull on earth is that he didn't want to ever fight anything. Fighting was traumatic to him. He would only fight another dog in defense of me or another person he loved, otherwise he would always flee.

Pit bulls take pleasure in fighting, they instigate it, and they seek out weaker dogs specifically to attack. Every pitbull I see in public fixates on children and other pets around it. Every single one of them. There is no such thing as a safe pitbull. You can't train out the instinct out of them, you can just mask it a little.
