My friend's mom was a cat lady.. she took in about 12 strays. She kept them in one room about 1/3rd the size of that one - so, much more room per cat. She took good care of them (feeding, changing litter etc) - as best you could for 12 cats in a small room. That said, the stench in the room was UNREAL. Not of feces or urine, just of cat funk (which I never really experienced before - even as a cat owner).
The first thing I thought when I saw this was "OMFG imagine the stench". I bet it's horrific.
