Punisher:War Zone, also known by it's original title "Punisher: This dead horse will undoubtedly spring to dazzling life if we just keep beating it!"

I have feeling this will take a lot of material from the MAX series without really getting it.

aside from the threat of violence against a farie tale, this looks like every standard shoot-em-up movie...

They fucked up. It goes Punisher->Punisher War JOURNAL->Punisher War Zone->Punisher 2099->Punisher meets archie.

I am not impressed, which makes me sad, because a good movie based on Garth Ennis' Punisher MAX would be incredible. And also at least a hard R, which Marvel (or in this case one of their remaining licensees) would never do, but still.

While I'm dreaming, I would also really love to see an adaptation of Matt Fraction's recent War Journal run where the Punisher dresses up like Captain America and slaps around the Hatemonger and a NAZI BULL. With a two-by-four. Not Fraction's best work (that'd be Casanova), and not the best Punisher (that'd be Ennis), but damn fun regardless.

+ Much better actor playing Frank (motherfucking) Castle this time around. It looks like they nailed the MAX look.

+ Doesn't look like it wastes time knocking off his family or spying on a gay man.

+ Recreates the McBain scene from The Simpsons. They only thing missing is breaking out of an ice statue.

- Spinning around on a bungee? Sliding on his knees? What is this pansy fansy gayness? Frank (motherfucking) Castle is a MACHINE where he stands there blazing away like an unstoppable force that doesn't give a fuck. Every single gun battle should be the police station scene from The Terminator.

- PG-13? FUUUUUUUUuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck
