That 3D-rendered-2D-sprite thing always bugged the hell out of me. So this loses a star.
I had a friend during fifth grade or thereabouts who played through this game at least a couple times per month.
One of the best matchups..square and nintendo coming together to put together this awesome game. Too bad the closest thing to a mario rpg we will get now is the Paper Mario series.
You're forgetting the Mario and Luigi series, which is great.
I remember that this was the first (or one of the first) where you actually used the coins you found to BUY SHIT.
