It deserves mentioning again here that the plain vanilla, single disc DVD of Brazil from Universal IS the director's cut. The time on the box is wrong and no mention is made on the cover, but it is the uncut version.

Brazil is one of the best examples of "Cutting off the last 60 seconds completely changes the entire fuckin movie" ever. Some of the other contenders are also Gilliam flicks.

Back in high school I lent this to an accquiantance, afterwards I commented "Man, pretty downer ending eh?" and he was like "Really? I didn't think so." I turned out he watched it up to the last five minutes.

We never spoke again.

Five stars. Five stars now. Five stars forever.

Dear Sid Sheinberg, When are you going to release my movie, Brazil (on youtube)?

Godard's Drinking Problem - 2009-01-20

Echoing the five stars. Every time I go back and watch this film, my appreciation increases exponentially (and I flat loved it the first time).

Get the Criterion version, people. If you spend any money on movies at all, you owe it to yourself.

Merzbau - 2009-01-21

God yes. The 3-disc Criterion set is one of the best DVD editions ever produced.

Paracelsus - 2009-01-21

Gilliam's best?

Merzbau - 2009-01-21

My favorite movie of all time. Absolutely, indisputed, no contest what-so-fucking-ever.
