Five stars for how much I fucking LOVED Red Dwarf when I was a kid, minus a countless number for how staggeringly unfunny it's become since my age hit double figures.

I agree one hundred percent.

But it's still Red Dwarf.

I disagree. Being a little immature and base was always the general humor level of Red Dwarf. While I think the show may have aged a little badly (especially the later seasons), overall I still think it's a good, weird little sitcom. Not the best thing from British humor, but I still think it's classic. I didn't even know about these new ones, I'll have to check it out. Glad something actually made it out after the development hell/uber-disaster of the "Red Dwarf Movie" Yeesh.

I liked the return to earth special. They got it pretty close to the original.

wtf?!?! They're making new episodes finally?!?!?!

This was more like a 3 part tv movie, but I hope it leads to more.

So far, its just a 3 episode mini-season that has been uploaded in its entirety to YouTube (I'm sure it will be deleted for copyright violation soon). The 3 eps are 30% Blade Runner parody, 30% fan service, and about 40% self-referential/recursive screenwriting in constant danger of disappearing up its own anus ouroboros (the Greek myth, not the POEster) style.

This wasn't that great, being a bit too heavy on the blade runner parody. However, it did prompt me to watch old episodes and I'm grateful to it for that.

I liked how every third scene was like a shot for shot remake of a scene from Bladerunner, I just didn't so much care for the fact that they felt the characters needed to constantly point it out.

"You have come to confront me, your creator. Like in Bladerunner. You know Bladerunner? The movie this is mostly based on? Yeah you know Bladerunner. This is a like a scene from that."
