Well, they never won an Emmy and neither did Newhart even though both were nominated multiple times. TV comedies with "Very Special Episodes" where they would do something especially dramatic would win instead. Bob Newhart is particularly bitter about it since his show never won an Emmy in comedy because they always did comedy episodes.
