Looked great at first but I noticed something was off. Just look at the design of the black guy and the asian guy and the italian guy.

You're right... they should be in cages!

I object to the racist and bigoted portrayal of vikings in this cartoon.

BIlly Mays Here - 2010-03-03
And all these Irish guys are red-headed Catholics! What the fuck?!

Three stars because this is a shitty trailer for an above-average movie.

TimidAres - 2010-03-03
Looks alright, a few questions though.
1. Why is the book kept in Orthanc?
2. Why does the alchemist look like George Carlin?
Samisyosam - 2010-03-03
That's not George Carlin, that's Willie Nelson.

I can never understand the reasoning behind 3 minute previews. I feel like I just watched this whole freaking thing. And I didn't like it much.
TimidAres - 2010-03-03
Seconded.

As a professor of medieval history, I like attention given to the Irish tradition of learning and manuscript illumination.

On the other hand, this looks like Pan's Labyrinth, Lord of the Rings, What's Opera Doc? and The 13th Warrior put into a blender.

Perhaps the lively animation style and its clear symbolic allusions to actual illuminations and the Celtic style (note the tree decoration at 2:29, the 'd' at 2:32, etc) will save it.

But then again; Mr Magoo? really?

I love how racially oversensitive things are around here now. Criminey.

Film looks neat - something other than the tired postmodern tropes of "everybody is empowered, everybody is sarcastic, and the girl knows kung-fu."

Hideous animation.

Two stars for being better than anime and not more cgi bullshit, at least.
bac - 2010-03-03
your face is animated crappy.

MrBuddy - 2010-03-04
Yeah you're right, the animation is so bad everyone will hate it. Well, except that it was nominated for the 2009 Oscar for Best Animated Feature.

nemeses9 - 2010-03-04
No, I said it was crappy. I said nothing about how many people will or won't like it or how it'll be received by the academy. Lots of things are crappy, but it still gets popular and nominated for awards.

Insert retarded semantics argument here.

+2 for the preload image, because it looks like something a late period Louis Wain would paint and that got my expectations all aflutter.
