The original short's randomness factor didn't really translate too well to this. It's like they're trying to have it both ways, with both coherent plotting and hyperactive catchphrase-based humor, and they're switching between the two in exactly the wrong places.
I do appreciate that John DiMaggio is actually using a voice other than Bender for this, although the end result is that he sounds like they got someone who is trying really hard to sound like John DiMaggio.
