The very same cranes they use to build death camps.

Look at the second crane, in the background, which gets taken out by the collapsing one. The load it appears to be carrying is actually a manbasket, and at the time there were two people in there.

Burnov - 2011-05-09 I spent a fair amount of time on industrial sites before I saw any of these videos that show how completely flimsy and dangerous derrick cranes can be.
I remember by first time on a major industrial site where they had those things positioned everywhere like giant metal claws coming out of the ground.
This video doesn't do an adequate job of conveying the size that some of these cranes can be. It was pretty overwhelming for somebody who had never been on a site like that before.
Since I've seen quite a few of these videos I don't quite look at them the same way.
We had a "minor" incident at one major refinery I was working in which the mast of one giant derrick crane "bumped" the mast of another, and basically forced a site safety stand-down.
This just reminds me how how easily the shit can hit the fan when you're working with those cranes in particular.
sjohnson301 - 2011-05-09 RIP to the three men who died during that accident. Just terrible. I was at County Stadium's last "opening day" when this happened, thus keeping County Stadium open one more year and making my last "opening day" ticket worth bupkis.
subversive - 2011-05-10 There's a better version of this video here, where you hear the actual failure noises that are far more dramatic than the asinine TruTV reality drama voice.. I have no idea why they edited that out:
