Youtube says it had rabies and they really didn't want to, in which case they're saving a lot of effort and risk, but without a source I'm not about to throw stars around.
IT wasn't rabid. This happened about a year ago, I remember it making the rounds on television back then. It was getting more publicity then, but I don't know what came of it since. From what I remember, the dog was being taken away from it's owner because he had a prior animal abuse conviction and wasn't supposed to own dogs. On top of that, there had been complaints that the dog made people "nervous" and was acting aggressive or something. Anyway, apparently this town or whatever didn't have real animal control, so they sent cops instead and the cops did this.
I think it's pretty much a case of the wrong people dealing with the wrong situation in an amazingly stupid way.
Cops Are Bastards Week is not my favorite week. :-(
When a dog laying on the ground wags its tail that means it has super powers and is about to fly up and rip your head off.
Also, this is a pretty drastic way to treat earmites.
I'd like to think the cops were trying to be helpful; they were aiming for the earmites, but missed.
The doggie was OK afterward, right? :(
doggie was not ok. i work for animal control in my county and this video upset all of us. the ex-cops among us were the most angry.
This made me so angry I can't see straight.
Looked pretty threatening and vicious. Quick and painless is the way to go.

I'm not going to even watch this. I know it'll upset me.
Instead, I'll give you five stars, and ask that if we do a Bad Cops week, we make it about cops being bad to people. :(
The dog was clearly resisting arrest.
If cops don't use ammunition it just sits in guns, wasting taxpayer dollars.
