This is still how my parents view rap.

This is how white folks viewed it in the 80s and it was harmless. Towards the 90s gangsta era white folks were scared of hip-hop and in the last decade its blended with pop music to such an extent you can hardly tell them apart, once again making hip-hop nonthreatening to whites.

Not just white people, but white CANADIAN people.

Ah, you Canadians! Too polite to even say "crap".
Billy the Poet - 2012-01-09
This reminds me of the "Pastworld" bit in Futurama. It's the Canadian equivalent of, "Let's disco dance, Hammurabi!"

I remember this show, as well as "vid kids" etc, they're all terrible.

They were always on when I wanted to watch cartoons.

Seven Arts/H8 Red - 2012-01-10
You were waiting for cartoons on the CBC?!

Burnov - 2012-01-10
No, it so happened that other people in the house wanted to watch that crap, thus depriving me of valuable cartoon watching time as a child.

The most harrowing times of my childhood weekends were waking up on sundays and hearing the theme to coronation street, knowing it was sunday and there was nothing good on tv, and worse yet, somebody was preventing me from playing nintendo.
