Vaidency Yeah, the random videogame humor in the last 40 seconds takes a pretty funny clip and actively makes it worse.

Oscar Wildcat A substantial improvement could be had by substituting the mario cart clip with a vintage clip from "Good Times" of JJ Walkers saying, "Dy-No-Mite!!!!"
But yeah, all that zooming made the clip look ridiculous enough.

History nerdery:
1) "States' rights" was not used as a justification for the Confederacy until they were well down the road to being wiped out and their cause was universally recognized as abhorrent. Prior to that it was always slavery, very explicitly slavery, even in the declarations of secession. Think of how the Bush crowd was all "MUSHROOM CLOUD! 45 MINUTES! EVERYONE YOU KNOW WILL DIE!" until the WMDs started proving nonexistent, and they switched to more muted rationalizations like "flypaper".
2) Jefferson Davis came up with some of the funniest lines in the whole war. His response to the Emancipation Proclamation: "“the most execrable measure recorded in the history of guilty man". Dude really loved his slavery. And after the war he was briefly held in a cell with ankle chains and with a light left constantly burning; he protested "those are orders for a slave, and no man with a soul in him would obey such orders". Oh Jeff, you were one of our greatest deadpan humorists, and you didn't even know it.
3) According to "History Detectives", Pickett's Charge was such a bloodbath because there was a picket fence (irony!) stretching across the field, which rendered the rebels very stationary, very easy targets.

Bort I was talking to someone today who mentioned that, somehow, her mental image of Jefferson Davis is that he's black. She knows that obviously can't be right ... but suppose it were? I'd watch a show about a black man who puts on white face so he can lead the Confederacy.

chumbucket It's likely the only two black people she knew from her childhood were George and Louise from the "TV".

Bort Nahh, she knows black people, it's just an odd mental tic she picked up. Kind of like, for me, Iwo Jima registers as a place in Mexico, even though I know for damn sure it's an island not far from Japan.
