Agreed. Every phrase spoken had an alternative meaning, except "so I died laughing", which he meant literally. Most suspicious indeed.

Tex Avery was a master at making just plain batshit-insane cartoons.

One of the most memorable cartoons from my child hood. That shit-eating grin on the cat always got me.
