If you were born after 1980, this is probably your only real memory of Archie and the gang.
Which is as it should be.
Cherry Pop Culture
I have always loved Archie and now that Kevin Keller exists, I just love the universe that much more! :D
-An adult that reads those horrid things
I was referring to the fact that Archie was a huge pop culture phenomenon in the late 60's, with one of the most popular cartoon shows of its time, and his "band" releasing one of the best-selling singles of the decade.
But then you guys had to go and drag comics into this. Because you're NERDS.

I tell the 15-18 year old kids at my store to Stay Out Of Riverdale! all the time, and literally none of them have ever gotten it ever. It's good times.

Stuck-up Riverdale punks. Think they're too good for me.
Riverdale is a town full of freaks whose skin is flesh-colored instead of yellow.
Homer just went there to gawk at the weirdos.

Once, Archie Comics put out an open call for new artists. I was about 17 and eager to join the burgeoning "comics about middle class teenagers stuck in a perpetual 1950s time warp" industry, so I went to meet their art director, who was based out of Seattle at the time. I showed up with all my "new ideas" for Archie, and she was very, very polite, and thrilled about my enthusiasm, but told me in no uncertain terms were they looking for "new ideas". I was crushed.
