Not too bad a movie...the bombastic and ridiculous music score could have been toned down a bit.

It's a great premise handled in the traditionally schlocky pulp way that Hollywood finds difficult to transcend, but it's really not that bad. I enjoy the soundtrack too and have it on mp3.

I remember reading the novel back when before I was awared that Dean Koontz was an official best-seller type, before that his early career was as an up and coming sci-fi author - he even contributed a story to the second of Harlan Ellison's 'Dangerous Visions' anthologies.

The practical effects in this movie blew my mind as a child. The giant walking friendship detector is awesome.
