Yeah yeah yeah, Martin Luther King solved everything and then you grow up.
BorrowedSolution - 2014-01-11
If by "grow up" you mean "eventually start listening to your peers despite your better judgement as your hormones slowly turn you into a lock-stepping coward" then sure, that makes sense.

Ask these kids in ten years when they're paralegals with bills to pay trying to figure out who to hate because they are not the billionaire astronaut president actor 3rd world doctors they're expecting to become. They'll hate all kinds of races AND mom and dad!

I'M CYNICAL!!!

EvilHomer - 2014-01-11
Jews, rednecks, jerkass guys who take all the boyfriend-free girls and leave me with NONE, and my bitch ex-manager, Deb. SCREW THEM ALL.

M-DEEM - 2014-01-11
Or even worse, they'll be dipshit bronies!

EvilHomer - 2014-01-11
I'm willing to bet most, if not all, of them are already bronies at various stages of the stable.

baleen - 2014-01-11
I'm not cynical.
When I was a kid I was very much like that, then the savages of adulthood and prejudice took their toll, and on top of that, I learned from life and school that things were not good, that he didn't solve everything, that in the eyes of my culture things were not all well and good. To me this child experiment is sugar coating things. We know what's going to happen. That's what makes it sad to me.

I'm also fairly sure this is a dupe.

Here's the telling thing, though: the kids can't even detect anything unusual with the white mom / black dad. I grew up with good liberal parents, and even so as I kid I'm certain I would have picked up on the biracial couple as an unlikely combination.

Some of these kids could potentially grow up to be racist fuckheads, but their parents certainly didn't lay the foundation.

EvilHomer - 2014-01-12
I was worried that they'd get upset because the black guy is being characterized as a worthless fatass, totally dependent upon his white wife to subtly nag him into making proper life choices. Turning his own kid against him like Tipper Gore would. That's racist, sexist, AND body-typist.

We need to broadcast tinkly piano music 24/7, you can't be racist with that in the background.

5 stars for kids with their heads screwed on straight, and 5 more stars for kids who have a pretty good idea of how to use "literally" properly.
That guy - 2014-01-11
5 for typing this for me

these kids also clearly grew up in a middle class liberal neighborhood and went to good schools, and were probably hand-chosen for this

BUT, 5 for the kids themselves. Hopefully they weren't spoon-fed any of the actual responses.

Korean and Asian is pushing it a bit.

Fun fact: South Koreans teach their children they have "pure" blood that is special and racially superior, especially to the Japanese. Korea is also dead set against mixing with other races more than almost any other culture on the planet. Mixed race children often encounter intense racism at school in spite of some teachers implementing multicultural curriculum.

One teacher recounted a story to me of his Korean co teacher who made up a game in class one day to let students go to lunch based on who had the lightest skin color and the darkest skin color went last. And the last few kids got really upset and she thought it was really funny.

Now that I've thoroughly depressed you, be glad that Americans at least try to make race relations better by talking about it.

The kids are alright.

Kids just repeat what people tell them. Ask some kids that have racist parents and they'll tell you some racist shit.
BorrowedSolution - 2014-01-11
Yeah, but that doesn't mean we should shit all over kids who had good parents.

Bort - 2014-01-12
The day these kids learn about the Trayvon Martin case they're all going to become suicide bombers.
