I've always thought that the Colorado river delta was such a huge ecological loss ever since I learned about it. Such massive wetlands destroyed for what, powering las vegas?

Have to wonder how much CO2 this area would soak up if fully restored...and if maybe that could be used to sell carbon credits to pay for water rights.

Though the same story is repeated all over the west coast on a smaller scale with reservors on pretty much every river and creek. Indigenous species of trout and steelhead (some of the most southernly surviving species) are nearly extinct.

I don't know who to root for in the whole fight over water out West. It seems like both sides are a bunch of assholes.

Cities are basically saying "FUCK YOU, FARMERS!" and the farmers are responding with "NO, FUCK YOU MORE!"

And the farmers are sucking the river dry to grow shitty high-calorie crops to sell to China and the city dwellers are sucking them dry to water their big yuppie lawns.

Ehh, there's also nature getting fucked over. And the locals in the delta area.
