Meanwhile, America is absorbing the excess population of the developing world. More people competing for the same resources (water in this case) is certainly not going to continue to drive prices up.
Yeah, that's the reason. It's not banks and megacorps sitting on loads of cash because there's no new bubble to inflate and destroy, it's not employers being unwilling to pay a living wage, and it's them durn immigrants keeping middle-class Americans from living the dream of working for minimum wage or less pushing a mop or picking crops.
How can you just sit here when your fellow Minutemen tried to have a little border party to randomly shoot anyone they thought looked funny? You could've doubled their numbers!
Clearly you don't know that not all immigrants are farm workers.
What an incredibly ignorant assumption you've made. It's actually far more racist than anything you can attempt to infer from not liking illegal immigration.
Because mexicans can only pick fruit and vegetables, right? It's not like automotive retail or other lower-class jobs are being affected at all. No siree.
please, not another immigrant debate
poetv has reached capacity on that topic for weeks to come
there is an inverse relationship between sarcasm and ______?
Void 71, welcome to poetv.
If you're trolling than I hope to see your work develop over the months, if you're not than you should be pretty entertaining.
Also, they are cutting off water for people who ARE paying their bills on time.
Look, if you're pushing the mop, your technique is all wrong and you're gonna get tired long before your floor gets clean. I use long, pulling, side to side strokes as I walk backwards.
Detroit makes me sad.
And yet the people who love Detroit love it; love that city so hard it's not even funny. At least they have some sort of hope I guess.
I find it amazing that they're doing this now.
How many times over the past several years were there stories about homes in Detroit being sold by the city for a dollar, but nobody was buying because of the catch: The new owner had to pay a load of fees, like the water bill due to the main filling the basement for months because thieves stole the copper pipes. The house had been constantly "using" water without payment long past the time the bills stopped being paid and nobody thought to shut off anything then?
I remember I forgot to transfer my Time Warner internet account over to my roommates' name before I moved out. This was incredibly stupid of me because they were all slacker hipsters who never paid their share on time, if at all (despite getting 00/month POCKET MONEY from daddy the lawyer, which needed to be spent on 0 guitars they couldn't play and "art supplies").
Fast forward 6 months later, and Time Warner calls me that the internet bill is 0 past due. I tell them to cancel it because I don't live there anymore.
"We can't cancel and turn off the service until you clear the balance on the account."
How many water related puns do you think the water guy has? "Their plans don't hold....water"
looks like this well has gone dry

I actually told someone about this and they said, "good thing they've got bottled water!" I gave them that look you give when your mind is melting behind your eyeballs trying to comprehend their logic.
Jet Bin Fever
exactly. What's the household usage now a days, like 100-200gallons or something? Just ridiculous.
