Wildcat's tips for cheap-ass bartenders #2: It is possible to buy smoke flavouring in a dehydrated powder form. Just a pinch in your whatever booze will achieve the taste. Mesquite is very common, for example. Rum sounds like a nice pairing. But I'd take a whack at tequila as well.
