I can't help wondering if kitty brain figures it out, and then immediately forgets when the dot moves again.

How has noone done this yet? I worry for the creative spirit of our species.
I'd always thought about doing this but couldn't think of a humane way to attach it. Fortunately there are people on YouTube without such concerns.
cat is in agony, clearly
I was worried more about how to take it off afterwards, really.

Was waiting for kitty to sink its claws into that sandal for a moment.

When I was a kid, I was playing over at a friend's house with some other kids. The kid who lived at the house said, "Watch this, it's cool." He got a roll of tape out of a drawer, pulled off a six-inch strip and carefully folded it over the end of his sleeping cat's tail.
Giggling, he scratched the cat's ears to wake it up. The cat was fine for a minute, until it curled its tale and felt the tape stuck to it. It's eyes got really big and the poor kitty totally freaked out, spinning and convulsing while the kid who had taped his tail laughed.
He stopped laughing when the cat suddenly rocketed up onto a shelf full of photos & knick-knacks, sending many smashing to the floor before shooting off down the hall with the kid in hot pursuit.
