Every time he yells "fuck off!" he sounds like a dalek.

StanleyPain - 2015-02-14

He really does.

blue vein steel - 2015-02-13

not enough stars for this

Jet Bin Fever - 2015-02-13

Reminds me of the 3rd Esteban Winsmore home invasion video, the one with the creepy ass kid and overprotective father in it. Why someone want to play someone's child in a videoga... oh yeah.

baleen - 2015-02-13

Esteban is much more good natured than this.
It's pretty easy to be crass and talk about raping kids and then people get angry. Esteban is genuinely hilarious.

I laughed at this, but then I felt kind of bad about it.

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2015-02-13

eh, theres not mush trolling going on. The guy explodes immediately with his "mongrel"s and whatnot.
Also does the trollee not have the power to boot the interloper immediately?

Whats noteworthy about these videos for me is how extremely mundane and unimaginative peoples fantasy lives seem to be. They amount to.. I'm hot, have hot wife and babies and luxury home, pretty much the contents of a lame 'aspirational' ad.
Its like a joke, like a dogs ultimate fantasy is "I have a big bone!".
At least the furries and bronies are taking advantage a little of the possibilities.

oddeye - 2015-02-13

most people are dull

infinite zest - 2015-02-13

Yeah really it falls somewhere between The Simpsons Joke with "My Dinner With Andre" and a joke panel I think I saw in Mad Magazine called "Existentendo" taking from the myth of Sisyphus itself. Like, WHY? I was pretty alright with being married in real life, and some people love having kids, and good for them.. I could understand the escapism of a couple that doesn't have kids or can't finding the concept appealing, but there's plenty of other outlets where your child doesn't like like a playstation 1 game.

baleen - 2015-02-14

most people are poor, alone, broken and desperate for an idea.

badideasinaction - 2015-02-14

I'm guessing one of two things:

1) For a lot of people who are alone, this is the perceived dream life

2) Most peoples' actual "fantasy lives" are probably embarrassingly personal and lay bare their inadequacies, and most people are self-aware enough to not want to show this to the world. Those who aren't self-aware enough to realize how personal these things are become the Gontermans of the world when they share it.

infinite zest - 2015-02-14

Yeah, like I could imagine a person who has been wheelchair bound their entire lives being thrilled at the idea of walking through a world.. I worked with a girl for a while with ALS and she loved SL and I can't blame her. What's interesting is there's a mod where you can be in a wheelchair, which would actually potentially be an interesting way of experiencing life without the use of one's legs. And hell, for building actual relationships, it's probably better than Tinder. Little things like how somebody arranges their furniture or how they interact with someone can't exactly happen in World of Warcraft (I don't think) but by the time you've started a virtual family, you'd think it'd be about time to get off the metaverse and just fuck already.

infinite zest - 2015-02-13

5 mostly for the last 2 seconds or so.. what are the rules of home invasion and such in SL? Like obviously you can boot somebody but if you threaten physical violence for the action in a game that as far as I know doesn't allow it and the person is found dead, can either be submitted in a real-life coutt of law as evidence?

TeenerTot - 2015-02-14

I think there was a CSI episode like that.

Caminante Nocturno - 2015-02-14

The last 2 seconds make it possible to imagine this happening to Sheogorath.

infinite zest - 2015-02-14

Yeah.. there was that Australian news story about the child pornography rings too, and if you threaten someone on the internet, it's the same as shouting "fire" in a movie theatre, game or not. I just mean like walking into someone's "house" and then being like "ooh I'm sorry it's my first day" etc. like our favorite SL troll does.

Like, say this is real life, and you're at your girlfriend's apartment and it's dark and you accidentally walk into her roommate's room by mistake after using the bathroom at 4 in the morning half naked and open the wrong door because it's your first night over there.. Because that happened to me once and her boyfriend was also in bed and threatened to kill me and I wasn't allowed the apartment anymore. And that's fair, even though it really was an honest mistake. I was in no way attracted to that girl but I felt like shit and avoided the guy like he'd actually go through with killing me or at least fucking me up..

Anyway that's small peas.. but in the scenario where I kept coming back because my girlfriend was there and he actually did fuck me up, I'd at least have a case over something that was really not that big of a deal. So in SL, this guy keeps doing that shit. Guy threatens to kill him and then it's revealed somehow his personal information and the guy takes it into the physical world and SL troll gets the shit kicked out of him or worse. Who among the two can claim self-defense?

Gmork - 2015-02-14

Sheogorath makes that happen TO people!

StanleyPain - 2015-02-14

I spent maybe, like, 2 hours total on SL a few years ago and, man...that place is weeeeeeiiiird.

infinite zest - 2015-02-14

Yeah my experience was really weird too. You know like how you walk through towns in Red Dead Redemption or GTA or whatever and they repeat the same script every three times you pass them by? People were doing that in SL to me! Unless SL has some sort of bot system set up that I don't know about, it was straight out of some horror movie or at least that episode of Rick and Morty where everything's a simulation (of a simulation)

Lord_Crocodilicus - 2015-02-14

If you haven't already, try some of the off brand life sims like Playstation Home. The thing I don't understand is how do you market it without letting on that it's a really bad lucid dream with ghetto hunnies and tattoos. I bring it out as a party trick. Some of us are still...just..so...delicate.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2015-02-14

SL is just fucking strange.

I get wanting to pretend you're some super sexy avatar so you can have pretend sex with another super sexy avatar for jerk off material. Pathetic as it may be, it makes perfect sense.

I don't understand pretend house with pretend family and pretend babies and threatening to IRL kill someone who pretends to want to hump your pretend babies.

glasseye - 2015-02-15

I'm so glad that NPR appears to have gotten over its SL fetish.
