I know this is satire (though rooted in fact) but pretty much every day we get closer to The Diamond Age becoming reality.

We have put our entire country in the hands of wealthy assholes. They have zero qualms about selling all our food to other nations.
Why should they care? They are completely insulated from all negative effects.
If America collapses, they'll just take their accumulated wealth and move on to the next country.
... as opposed to China, where they've put their entire country into the hands of wealthy assholes.

Wait, are they implying that ravioli pasta isn't a proper food?
Calling that stuff in a can "food" is dubious at best.

So I guess we are literally just accepting Communist propaganda as fact now?
You're right, according the commies in our own government...
... they are confusing people with households, and even if they stated it as households, the number only closely approximates the households with children.
Fucking lying commies.
The prevalence of food insecurity varied considerably among household types. Rates of food insecurity were higher than the national average (14.3 percent) for the following groups:
All households with children (19.5 percent),
Households with children under age 6 (20.9 percent),
Households with children headed by a single woman (34.4 percent),
Households with children headed by a single man (23.1 percent),
Black, non-Hispanic households (26.1 percent),
Hispanic households (23.7 percent), and
Low-income households with incomes below 185 percent of the poverty threshold (34.8 percent; the Federal poverty line was ,624 for a family of four in 2013).
