1 for a fucking asshole and 4 for the cheering assholes around him.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2015-08-10

Did somebody ninja swap a trump vid for a sanders one?

infinite zest - 2015-08-10

The Comet sure looks different.. did they remodel?

fluffy - 2015-08-10

Yeah, it got bought out and then they were closed for like a year.

yogarfield - 2015-08-10

they really bouged it out, but that's kind of the case with the whole hill. weekends there are terrible/hilarious.

yogarfield - 2015-08-10

also he spoke at the comet because he got run out of westlake? what happened here?

yogarfield - 2015-08-10

http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/politics/black-lives-matt er-protesters-shut-down-bernie-sanders-rally/

holy shit, paying 0-1000 to get into the new comet? these people are idiots!

huhwhoa

yogarfield - 2015-08-10

aaaand whoops i just saw the other post. i spent all weekend off the grid, so shut up.

CornOnTheCabre - 2015-08-10

nah, the Comet thing was booked well before the Westlake Park event. local asshole Dave Meinert collects these dying institutions (see also: Canterbury Ale House) and turns them into yuppie hellholes. so for him to book Sanders for a more "exclusive" Seattle rally is no surprise at all

baleen - 2015-08-10

In defense of remodeling, the comet was in pretty bad shape.
The Capitol Hill that I knew is essentially dead: Charlies closed. Harvard Exit closed. There is now an enormous fratty beerhall.
All the bars I once went to have either de-punk/hipsterized/faggotized or become a weird mirror maze for cultural peekaboo enthusiasts.

yogarfield - 2015-08-10

@corn

meinert is indeed an asshole. i get this second-hand ALL THE TIME because most of my friends are industry. i will cave and say that big mario's is better than hot mama's. it's just true.

@baleen

you forgot the gloryhole maze, or was that always there? just curious, where do you hang? i only go to the hill on the weekends if i want to watch people fight and kind of street party. i miss living there, i don't miss paying for living there.

infinite zest - 2015-08-11

Any of you Seattle folks been to the new Funhouse? I wanted to go up for PizzaFest but I didn't think I'd have much fun with my stupid leg brace on.

yogarfield - 2015-08-11

The fuck did you do to your leg?

fluffy - 2015-08-11

Wait what happened to the Funhouse?

yogarfield - 2015-08-11

the funhouse is now inside el corazon.

fluffy - 2015-08-11

When did that happen? Last time I was at El Corazon it was still just El Corazon, but that was close to a year ago.

Man, I work right by El Corazon. I should probably check it out.

fluffy - 2015-08-11

also I like Hot Mama's better than Big Mario's THERE I SAID IT

Oh and wasn't Meinert also against the minimum wage? Lost Lake is also pretty abysmal. It's like the food is shit, but ON PURPOSE. Because it's an IRONIC diner, get it?

but yeah this neighborhood has completely changed in the last 10 years. Some things for the better but mostly for the worse. It's gone from being where queer artists hang out with affordable rent to where a bunch of douchebros go to get shitfaced on the weekends and the rest of the week it's a desert because all the 00+ apartments are occupied by people who are spending all their time on the Amazon campus anyway, and it's crazy how much anti-LGBT hate crimes are on the rise here. This is NOT what I moved back here for.

Oh and all of the quirky local shops are getting evicted and priced out and so on. Edge of the Circle had to move to WALLINGFORD, for fuck's sake. I mean I never had a reason to even go in there but that place was a typical Cap Hill business. Meanwhile all the best storefronts are sitting vacant or being taken over by overpriced restaurants where you can get a risotto. And all the classic buildings are getting "renovated" and turned into shitty apartments that are instant eyesores with fucking quasi-random metal paneling that doesn't even try to fit in with the "character structure" that they preserved to get a tax break.

The old BMW dealership had so much potential to become something amazing, and now it's just another shitty metal box with a discordant brick wrapper on the bottom floor. And that's practically the first thing I see when I walk outside every goddamn morning.

Hooray for progress.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2015-08-10

Of all the candidates so far, he's my favorite. I would vote for him in a heartbeat.

Sucks that he doesn't stand a chance in hell at winning.

infinite zest - 2015-08-10

You never know, but I just hope that if that's the case he drops out and doesn't go independent the same way I hope The Donald does the opposite. Then again, between The Donald and Hillary, only one of them is a murderer (hint it's not The Donald.)

gravelstudios - 2015-08-10

I assume he's running for the same reason Ron Paul always ran: to give people a choice (or at least the sense of choice). He knows he's not going to win, but it helps get liberals to the polls who might otherwise stay home.

TheOtherCapnS - 2015-08-11

I would love if both Bernie and Trump ran as independents. I think a four-way race could be really healthy for this country's political process (even though the outcome could be horrible) just because it could enlighten a lot of folks about the fact that a two party democracy isn't a normal or good thing.

Nominal - 2019-11-24

Ha ha, yeah. That Bernie running really got liberals out voting in record numbers!

Can this man just drop dead already and the time he had left go to Ruth Bader Ginsberg instead?
