Fussy pedantic Lindybeige is best Lindybeige.
What a fucking dork. He acts like he cares about authenticity, but he shits on the samurai and their katanas. He has not a single shred of academic integrity. I dare Homer and his sock puppet to challenge this.
He shits on them from a position of authenticity. Katanas could not cut machine guns in half, they could not beat tanks, and I might have been exaggerating when he said they were made "by the worst smiths in all of Japan" (what other sword would "good" Japanese smiths have to work on, if not the katana?), they were certainly made by some of the worst smiths in the world at the time.
Also, sock puppet, I have no idea what you're talking about. I haven't posted as Cena_mark in awhile now.
"He" might have been exaggerating. I am not Lindybeige.

i watched all of season 1, liked it but didn't love it, recognized it for what it was (a UK network's attempt to cash in on GoT glory with a historical twist), but the original books seem interesting enough for me to want to read them, and I thought that despite the cornball fantasy tropes thrown in there, felt the series was pretty well done, it has some cool action scenes and I love the pagan witch character.
Bernie is Britain's greatest living author. I cannot recommend his books enough! He once wrote a scene about King Arthur fucking a girl who had butter smeared all over her stomach.
I've never seen this show, though. Is it the Uhtred the Saxon saga?
yeah it all revolves around Uhtred who is a total dumbass, but I hear that's how he is in the book also, a really simpleminded brute of a guy with a dumb sense of justice and no understanding whatsoever of politics or even a basic understanding of law and order. but that's the fun of it is watching him fuck up
Yeah, that sounds about right; he's dumb, but his jerkiness is oddly endearing and the various screw-ups and dickish things he does quickly grow on you.
The best part is the books are narrated in first-person, by Uhtred himself, so you get to enjoy the story of Alfred the Great, as seen through the eyes of a 10th-century Jersey Shore meathead.

"Bernard Cornwell" tag maybe?
Best author of historical fiction. Discuss.
It's buried in there. Link to it and it'll activate.
