I've never seen this..
Just from this clip:
It didnt make sense.
The screenplay seems to be like a self-insert fanfic b-movie type thing.
The dialogue is so stilted and weird with the 'cool lines' inserted haphazardly.
But its obviously a big budget movie with high production values. Weird!
Woah. I was just thinking about this movie yesterday. I was remembering the scene where Stallone was making cheeky comments about how some girl likes to drown her french fries in ketchup. I was half wondering if I'd just imagined it.
The script for Cobra was adapted somewhat loosely from the first novel by award winning British crime novelist Paula Gosling, "A Running Duck", which won the John Creasey Award for Best First Novel back in 1974.
The novel itself is not bad at all, a rather well-realized, muscular story for all that it sounds like the synopsis of a standard action film. A San Francisco advertising copywriter finds herself on the receiving end of attempts on her life, after she sees a tall man drop a piece of paper while at the park. She calls out to him and gets a good look at his face. This leads to an attempt on her life, she's wounded by a suppressed gunshot from across a street. A Vietnam vet and ex-sniper turned police lieutenant who is the SFPD's unofficial official specialist in the fields of snipers and contract killers recognizes the touch of a mysterious hitman known only as 'Edison' who he has been attempting to nab for years. She just happened to get a good look at Edison's face as he was leaving the scene of a hit.
Later another rather loose adaption was based on the book, "Fair Game" which was an attempt at a starring vehicle for Cindy Crawford and well, it wasn't very good. At least Cobra has that robust Eighties-ness to it.
