Too evil for me to watch.
I watched it. Putting the E back in poe, voodoo? This is just a degree off from Ogrish. If that pitchfork had been any sharper, it would be.
I can't bring myself to rate this five stars, and one-starring ignores the fitting amount of evil. Ghost stars for a video making me feel like I need a drink.
I didn't submit this because I wanted psychos to jerk off to it. It's not supposed to be exploitative. This is genuinely horrifying, but it has a meaningful message: be smart about where your food comes from.
Made it as far as the pitchfork and stopped.
Donated money in a rage but then I wondered if I should've. This is obviously a fucked up individual as opposed to a systematic thing and apparently the Mercy people didn't go to the cops right away, just sat on the footage for a while.
What have I done, poeTV?
It sounds like you've been exploited, chum.
Your five bucks won't stop dicks from abusing cows. Besides, the major contributors of meat and milk have a setup that's just impersonal and depressing - not abusive.
Most farmers don't do this to their livestock and try to either kill them as quickly and painlessly as possible or make sure when they're alive that they're not sick, etc. Some cows do get sick and die of natural causes though.
Chances are, these were workers at the farm and not the actual owners who bought and paid for the livestock. So, it's about a few degrees worse than being hired at a car dealership and destroying the cars. Only, these animals are alive and can certainly feel pain.
Don't get me wrong, I think that these guys deserve to be hit in the head a few times with a crowbar and stabbed with pitchforks repeatedly - but what I don't like is how people will take this video and think all dairy farms are like this, when they're not.
Five stars for the evil.
Things escalate so rapidly on poe.
A) I didn't know the owner was part of it
B) This is still rare - and there are plenty of humane ways of killing an animal for food. Living things die in order for us to have food.
C) Again, I do not condone this behavior at all - and never said I did.
But hey so long as it makes you feel like an internet hero to jump to the conclusion that I'm okay with this behavior simply because I didn't know the owner was involved or that because it happened once on video means it happens at every single dairy farm, right?
This is a somewhat isolated incident.
The real horror of dairy is its association with the veal industry (crate confinement is the fate of male dairy cattle), and the rather artificial living conditions of most dairy cows, which shorten the lives of the average dairy cow from a normal 20 years to 5 years. Ovo-lacto vegetarians aren't doing much to improve animal welfare, given most suffering in animal agriculture occurs among battery hens, dairy cows, and veal.
If you're wondering about how twice daily mechanical milking effects your milk, worry no more. There are limits on the amout of pus from mastitis in your milk:
"The SCC amount is the Somatic Cell Counts (number of white blood cells …Leukocytes) per milliliter of milk (SCC/ml). A dairy industry rule of thumb states that cows measuring less than 200,000 SCC/ml of milk are considered healthy or not significantly infected with mastitis. Cows measuring over 200,000 SCC/ml are considered infected cows."
There's always underlying issues when users lash out at each other. ALWAYS.
Very true. I wonder if any studies have been done about the psychology of posting comments on videos. People don't comment until after they've watched it - and in the cases of a video that has something shocking or even politically oriented it usually brings out anger anyway so people are more willing to lash out at each other and are quicker to being offended.
It's also probably why they're quicker to jump to action, jump to conclusions, and quick to rush to any judgment and why videos like this one and others are often spread around before anyone has the time to do research as to what is really going on.
The closer we are to being shocked, the closer we are to turning off all rational thought and civil discourse.
The abusers here have already been caught and jailed.
People should avoid all agitprop if they are not immediately suspicious when someone adds horror movie music to ensure that the viewer thinks and feels exactly what they're supposed to. That's pandering to a pretty reflexive crowd.
Why in fuck would someone do that?
This isn't a cat. C'mon.

I made it 15 seconds, this is seriously fucked up.
For those interested, contact information of the owner is on the front page of the youtube vid.
stopped when the calf was dropped, then kicked. I think 4 seconds in?
its mind bogglingly sad
There's no point in me watching this.
Wow. I haven't been disgusted by humanity in awhile. Take my stars and leave, please.
Just think... by buying beef/veal/dairy, you have paid these folks to do this!
Vote with your dollar.
Eating a banana means you love terrorism!
Pugilist Farms: Where we hire boxers to pummel cows right onto your plate.
Torture the Artist
Guys, shut up! If we eat enough legumes then sociopaths won't exist anymore!!!
I wonder if the people who donated money in a rage after seeing this also donate money in a rage when they hear of human rights abuses.
I had to stop at five seconds because I knew what I was in for at that point.
That's fucking evil.
Also it was actually in the local news yesterday about the guy who's responsible for this being up for his sentencing and he's whining to the judge about how bad his financial situation is and how he's about to become a police officer and if he's in jail he's going to be in a worse financial situation and not be able to graduate from the police academy because he can't pay the $100,000 bond the judge has set baww.
Hey ladies, I know you want to soothe yourselves with the sweet lullabies that this is an exception to the norm, but it isn't. Now before you start screeching and flinging your faeces, let me clarify.
The majority of mom and pop farms, the traditional ones we think of when we think farms, don't have this kind of abuse. I'm not making any argument saying that home-farms work this way.
What is undeniable, however, and long proven, is that the vast majority of meat and dairy products now come from factory farms, where there are scenes like this all the time.
Factory farming is evil, not just for the way it treats animals, but it also one of the largest polluters on the planet. And it is where we get the majority of dairy and meat now.
Buy local from mom and pop farms!
I tried raising a cow once, but he had problems getting up and down the back stairs to my second-story apartment. Well... he had problems getting up....I just kicked him down the stairs when it was time for him to go eat grass from the side of the freeway. The meat's more tender when you brutalise the animal every day, y'know what I'm sayin'?
Well....I....well...huh. That was....fucked up. I wonder how he'd feel if we all got together and kicked his wife in the tits for a while?
Torture the Artist
Is there ever an animal cruelty story that isn't immediately followed by people having horrifying revenge fantasies that somehow make the animal cruelty not seem as bad?
Have fun brutally assaulting the guy's wife, I guess!
Yeah...because I was totally advocating that, not just questioning where exactly the empathy of human beings switches off. I would like nothing better than to make this situation worse.
Torture the Artist
The thing is, it's very easy to say that without posing a hypothetical situation where "we" gang up on his wife and abuse her tits, so maybe you should find one of the less skin-crawlingly awful ways to make the same point next time.
Torture the Artist
So you're going as far as you possibly can to cement your discomforting misogyny as your sole defining trait? Good for you!
Who the fuck drinks milk? It's a fucking body fluid. That's gross.
im lactose intolerant.
hahaha look at all you pathetic fat babies who can't even bring yourselves to look at the results of your lifestyle choices
*watches video of slave beating*
THIS IS JUST A BAD APPLE IT'S NOT A PROBLEM ENDEMIC TO THE PRACTICE OF SLAVERY
I bet you're not watching a video of a slave beating at all.
gommorrah do you eat dairy or just eggs
and slave owners know that their slaves perform better when treated well and taste better when killed painlessly so it follows that no slaves were ever mistreated
don't you know anything
gross. I'm glad I only buy local and from places I know treat their animals with respect
I have to think that there is a very particular place in hell for these kinds of people. I have to.
Well, if heaven for them is a pool full of cow shit, I don't even want to know what their hell is like.
bad news bro that shit's all make believe
if you want justice or more likely vengeance you have to care enough to modify your behavior in this life
|Scrotum H. Vainglorious |
