Family Guy is the Carlos Mencia of cartoons about dysfunctional families.
Caminante Nocturno
In Family Guy's defense, this is all a bunch of cartoon nerd faggotry and nobody should take it seriously.
futurebot
I guess the universe was going to collapse in on itself eventually, I just didn't think YOU accusing OTHER PEOPLE of "cartoon nerd faggotry" would be the reason

EvilHomer
Hey man, Card Captor isn't a cartoon, it's a way of life.

Hooker
I wanna give -1 for the ending, but I dislike Family Guy a lot.
Rodents of Unusual Size
Yeah, but plagarism is an honor thing. The writers should feel shame but they don't. That aside, I literally feel revulsion when people say "I love Family Guy! Family Guy is sooo funny!"
Blackbetta
Most of them, they didn't even try to be original.
Pandatronic
Meh, half of these are sitcom cliches to begin with.
kiint
this is like comparing Damien Hirst to Jeff Koons
athodyd
Weirdly, last time I saw American Dad it was a better Simpsons copy than either of these shows.
thebaronsdoctor
It was a better Simpsons copy than the Simpsons themselves?

athodyd
Yeah, that last episode of American Dad had one single storyline and one minor subplot and it followed both with very little deviation right up to the denouement. Simpsons hasn't pulled that off since I was in high school.

simon666
if the simpsons movie is shite, then i'm writing off the entire show. they'll never have existed to me.
mr666
I'm sure THAT will upset the Simpsons writers/producers.

EvilHomer
SIMPSONS ALREADY DID IT! -1 point because I like Family Guy, dammit.
Xenocide
A couple are a bit of a stretch (the child services bit and the car insurance) but some are really blatant, especially the racetrack dogs. Anyway, five stars because Seth Mcfarlane still tries to convince people that his show isn't inspired by the Simpsons in any way.
StanleyPain
So, a show that was a complete rip-off of the Simpsons to begin with is ripping off the Simpsons?
j lzrd / swift idiot
What Caminante said.
SDAusmus
Aren't both shows ripping off "The Flintstones"?
Xenocide
Yeah, well, The Flintstones was just ripping off The Honeymooners.

CONCLUSION: Everything rips off everything.

zatojones
I like both shows
Feyd
Yikes, a few of these aren't just close, they're dead-on.
Maxville
If it weren't for cartoon plagarism we wouldn't have anime. Boo plagarism!
Cube
I like both shows.
mr666
Heck, I like Family Guy, but I can admit it "reuses" a bunch of Simpsons ideas/jokes.
Aubrey McFate
Family Guy is the Dane Cook of television shows.
Zarathustra00
The South Park two-parter making fun of how the Family Guy writers come up with material was dead on. Family Guy and about the last 10 seasons of the Simpsons are made for people who don't have any kind of attention span.

Also: for anyone who liked early Simpsons and doesn't already know, try Futurama.
FABIO2
The "Simpsons did it!" defense only works if you try to improve upon or do something new with an old gag. Family Guy fails utterly.
