I called it a few times, but now I can't even reach anyone.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-11-09

CALL THE JUDGE and GET SOME FUDGE!

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-11-10

Don't feed the troll. I think we should try to ignore Trump and pay attention to Biden, unless Biden directs our attention to Trump.

simon666 - 2020-11-09

Everyone should be calling the GSA and complaining that their failing to certify Biden as the President-Elect is putting our national security at risk.

From Twitter
"This is Emily W. Murphy.

She’s a Trump appointee at the GSA who is declining to sign the letter authorizing the Biden transition to begin.

Give her a call and tell her you want Biden treated like every other president-elect.

1-844-472-4111"

Technically, the transition began a few months ago, but the post election phase has not begun, which opens up funding and other such support for national security related transition issues.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-11-09

I don't really know how this usually goes, but my gut feeling is that its a little early to start flooding Washington with phone calls. I'm not even sure if all the votes have been counted, but we need to watch this closely. Personally, I'll give her until Wednesday.

Nominal - 2020-11-09

Ok, Evilhomer.

Hazelnut - 2020-11-09

Jesus, Nom, "I'll give her until Wednesday" is "Evilhomer" now? It's fucking Monday.

simon666 - 2020-11-09

Waiting a few days is probably fine.

But I would probably caution against (generally speaking) a wait and find out attitude/strategy. On the assumption that the GOP might actually be trying to quasi-steal the election through quasi-legal means (drum up enough uncertainty to get courts to intervene or get Trump friendly electors to take the place of Dem electors), waiting could both empower and embolden them.

My sense is (and I think John you'd probably agree with this): Steady, reasoned, non-hysterical pressure on/against the GOP is the best strategy.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-11-10

Let the big baby have his frivolous legal challenges. They're going down in flames everywhere. The language of Barr's statement about investigating "allegations" with no mention of evidence sounds like a big nothingburger. The GOP has been trying to find evidence of major voter fraud for twenty years with no real success, except for that one time when they accidentally discovered REPUBLICAN voter fraud. They're not going to find anything between now and January, certainly not enough to change the outcome.

The behind the scenes anonymous source reports I'm getting from my Washington Post and my MSNBC seems that everybody knows it's over.
They're placating him, because he's Billy Mumy in that Twilight Zone episode about the spoiled kid with the evil powers, they're trying to handle him so he doesn't send us all out to the cornfield.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-11-10

Don't feed the troll. I think we should try to ignore Trump and pay attention to Biden, unless Biden directs our attention to Trump.

SolRo - 2020-11-10

The upside is that we may yet still see trump dragged out of the white house in handcuffs.

Hazelnut - 2020-11-10

I had a similar thought to SolRo & JHM there. Trump may hate 'losers', but everybody hates a sore loser. Let Trump rant and rave and embarrass himself, and maybe some more of his followers will peel away.

Not even Pillager or Ashtar / Crackersmack is seriously trying to pretend that any real vote fraud happened.

Nominal - 2020-11-10

"Let's give Republicans the benefit of the doubt and let them flout every precedent for peaceful transition of power from the last century because after all fair is fair" is absolutely Evilhomer levels of devil's advocate. Even fucking Marco Rubio of all people is speaking out how dangerous a compromise to national security this groundless delay is.

Right now you and JHM are being dumber than Marco Rubio. Think about that for a minute.

But then, I haven't donated billions to charity like Warren Buffet so who am I to get a say?

Crackersmack - 2020-11-10

Voter fraud didn't happen, it never actually happens, Trump doesn't have the option to refuse to leave because all this shit happens without needing his approval, and the people that spent the last four years pretending that Trump was some existential threat (you guys) instead of a regular boring-ass Republican are all retards.

*and* Trump's big "fuck you" to the Democrats on his way out may just be to end the occupation of Afghanistan, if there is any truth to NBC's reports about the reason why the SecDef resigned/got fired yesterday

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-11-10

>>>"Let's give Republicans the benefit of the doubt and let them flout every precedent for peaceful transition of power from the last century, because after all,

DO YOU THINK WE CAN STOP THEM? HAVE YOU BEEN ASLEEP FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS?

Someone from the Biden campaign said something about Trump that seemed pretty sensible. "He wants you to follow him into fantasyland. "

Trump's fans love him because

1. "He always wins."
2. "He makes the libs heads explode."

Trump has already lost a lot of his mojo. He's lost. Trump's fans were sure he couldn't. They wouldn't care if he cheated, but they never thought he'd lose.

The fraud allegations are Trump's patholgy acting out, exactly as we always knew it would. I can't be 100 per cent certain that there won't be some kind of coup, but Trump doesn't really have the support of the military, and most of those militia cunts look like they couldn't handle three flights of stairs, never mind overthrowing the government. The more responsible Reupublican leaders (like McConnel, damn him to hell) aren't claiming that there was massive fraud. They're supporting his "right to challenge". This little drama was always inevitable.

Being a sore loser makes him more of a loser. The danger was always that he would be seen as a success, a model for future presidents to follow, but he's a model for future presidents to avoid.

I could be wrong about all of this, but this is how I choose to play it. I'm not "giving him the benefit of the doubt." He's objectively the worst person ever. I'm hoping to take away his power. Every night on the news now, Biden leads. Trump's nonsense is the third or fourth story. That's what will take the wind out of his sails.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-11-10

>>>*and* Trump's big "fuck you" to the Democrats on his way out may just be to end the occupation of Afghanistan, if there is any truth to NBC's reports about the reason why the SecDef resigned/got fired yesterday

The only reason why Trump didn't start a major war was because he didn't want to have to go to all those meetings, and read all those reports.

Crackersmack - 2020-11-10

That's good enough for me. However, I'm sure Biden will have no problems attending the meetings regarding his invasion(s) of Syria/Iran/Venezuela or whatever.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-11-11

I will backpedal just a little bit here.

These is a dangerous time, and the outlaws need to be watched closely, but I think we can expect that's going to happen, and ordinary joes like you and me (like ME, anyway) don't have to take that on ourselves. Joe Biden (and Kamela, and Hillary, and Barak) sent me at least one text message a day asking for money, and if Sleepy Joe wants me to troll poor Emily Murphy, I'll do it, but what I'm seeing describes Emily Murphy as a career public servant, not a Trump Partisan. Trump probably had no idea how important this position was, or he would have appointed Kmiberly Guilfoyle. If she's seen as making this decision, Trump is going to attack her as a member of the Deep State.

Maybe it will come to that. Not my decision. Almost nothing is my decision. I can only decide to try to keep my little piece of the zeitgeist as clean and efficient as I try to keep my apartment, maybe with a little more success.

If I can, I'll do whatever Joe, Kamala, Hillary, and Barak ask of me.. not blindly, but by default.

simon666 - 2020-11-11

I don't think the appropriate question is: Do you think we can stop them?

I think what will stop them is hard to game out/predict. What you can do as an ordinary joe/jane is push on people in positions of power. Sometimes that's just making people field difficult (but otherwise polite though concerned) phone calls all day government offices; or it means writing or calling your state and federal representatives and making them and their staff deal with your concerns frequently; or it means writing or calling the newspaper or news station and pressing them to cover (accurately) the issue. It could also mean calling in sick, or having and old fashion protest.

You've got to keep pressing the truth, keep it salient, and thereby demonstrate is relevance. You exercise your power on the other positions of power and it wears on the people in those positions of power. By being in power, those people are the focal point of citizen power, and the people in the focal points of power will wear out with enough press.

That's what we can do and must do, while those on the side of American Democracy in government are also doing all that they can do.

Crackersmack - 2020-11-09

adult man with display of action figures in his home

SolRo - 2020-11-09

Oh we missed you! Finally sobered up?

teethsalad - 2020-11-09

"iT's gOnnA bE tHe LoWeSt vOtEr tUrNoUt eVer"

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-11-09

I think he's still drunk, since apparently he can't tell action figures from Halloween decorations.

SolRo - 2020-11-09

There’s some Transformers so technically model cars, not action figures.

Didn’t figure cracker to be anti-Trans.

Hazelnut - 2020-11-09

Poooor Crashtar. If it's any consolation, just remember Trump will still harm and kill a huge number of Americans in the months he has left.

Cena_mark - 2020-11-10

People decorating their rooms with things, what a scandal.

Gmork - 2020-11-10

Again, this pathetic display by Crackersmak and ashtar are exactly what i ed expecting and you gentlemen(gentleman?) did not disappoint.

There are only so many options for someone in your position, given that admitting you were wrong is anathema to your entire existence.

Five stars.

Crackersmack - 2020-11-10

you all really burned me there by arguing that his toys are not technically action figures, stay winning POETV

Gmork - 2020-11-10

No I'm pretty sure you burned yourself out being an obvious shill to deaf ears.

Keep trying to acquit yourself gracefully after your embarrassing months-long display.

It's not going to happen.

Crackersmack - 2020-11-10

I'm glad that you see the grace in my posts gmork, I'm flattered.

Gmork - 2020-11-10

No. I don't see any grace.

That would come in the form of apology and the admission that you've been acting in bad faith.

Crackersmack - 2020-11-10

lol

Gmork - 2020-11-11

Spoken like a man with no defense of his objectively bad behaviour.

Crackersmack - 2020-11-11

gmork how many funko pops do you have within your line of sight right now

Binro the Heretic - 2020-11-09

These people made their choice. They deserve what they get.
