Ugh, this was somehow even less funny than I remember.

This loses something without the context of the REAL bank commercials that were just like this and would run during the SNL breaks. The 'real people' testimonials/fade to black/friendly bank guy campaign was really effective (to me) at first because the form of the ad was so new. These ads were as ubiquitous as Geico back in the late 80's.

The SNL parody shows just how empty the ads were. All style.

SNL later made fun of the same campaign when Roseanne Barr hosted.
