In case anyone was wondering, the guy in the beard is Dawkins
Azmo23 - 2008-01-02
uhh no. The guy in the beard is Dennet, far left is hitchens, middle right is dawkins, far right is harris.

Billy Buttsex - 2008-01-02
Nope, YOU'RE WRONG. Dawkins has the beard, Hitchens is on the middle right, and Dennet is on the right. I keep forgetting which one Harris is, probably because he's the least cool/sexy out of the four, and I have a strict "don't remember uncool/unsexy people" policy.

FatFatuousNation - 2008-01-02
Forget about names. These are the headless horsemen who wear giant eggs instead of pumpkins, who meet in occult yet homey parlor rooms to machinate destruction, who pontificate their heresy and Satanic intonations while sipping scotch and Bombay Martinis

Hakujinjoe - 2008-01-02
dawkins is the third from the left. He has a British accent as he's British. The guy in the beard is definitely not dawkins.

Azmo23 has correctly identified everyone.

Billy Buttsex - 2008-01-02
HEY EVERYONE, THIS GUY ABOVE ME DOESN'T BELIEVE THAT DAWKINS HAS A BEARD

EvilHomer - 2008-01-02
NO, HITCHENS HAS THE BEARD. DAWKINS IS THE TABLE LEG.

theFlu - 2008-01-02
I go to college. I know these things:
DAWKINS IS DEFINITELY THE GUY WITH THE BEARD.

EvilHomer - 2008-01-02
Also: Far Left is Hitchens. Teehee.

svraz - 2008-01-02
theFlu: "I go to college"
ah, that explains the constant muppetry.

Roachbud - 2008-01-02
Dawkins doesn't have a beard:
http://www.nndb.com/people/281/000024209/

Billy Buttsex - 2008-01-02
How could you have a name like Dawkins and NOT HAVE A BEARD. Dawkins is a very close friend of mine, and he beards heavily.

Hakujinjoe - 2008-01-03
thank you roachbud, compare that picture to the four guys in the video. it's clear that not only does dawkins not have a beard but that he is the third guy from the left.

Anyone who has watched any of his millions of documentaries would recognize his voice at least, not to mention is face.

theFlu - 2008-01-03
I have watched millions of DAWKYNS documentaries in college -- he's the GUY WITH THE BEARD. HE'S ENGLISH, FUCKERS.
The other guy, to the right of DAWKYNS sounds like he's from fucking Tennessee and does not have any facial hair.

Billy Buttsex - 2008-01-03
You're throwing your pearls to swine, theFlu. These guys don't know shit about accents, beards, or Dawkins.

glendower - 2008-01-02
A smug discussion among ideologues who agree with each other. I'd like to hear a discussion between these guys and intelligent religious thinkers, who, contrary to mass media presentations, actually exist.
Billy Buttsex - 2008-01-02
You know, on second thought I should've rated this one star too. I just didn't watch the whole thing because I figured it'd be bullshit, but I gave it a higher rating because I didn't stick around until the end. Anyway, agreed, brother!

FatFatuousNation - 2008-01-02
An intelligent religious thinker? Name one. Behe puts on the best front, but he's ultimately an intellectually dishonest crackpot.

Jeff Fries - 2008-01-02
Lord, it's like all the ever do is hang out

Doctor Arcane - 2008-01-02
A religious thinker or a thinker of religion? For the former, I must believe Godel/Einstein/Newton/Lewis etc must have living counter-parts today right? I mean aren't all mathematicians still Platonist?

andru strange - 2008-01-02
they don't.

DrVital - 2008-01-02
Because religious ideologues have no place that they can get together to discuss their opinions and ideas.

Billy Buttsex - 2008-01-02
Doctor Arcane's right. CS Lewis is kind of an obvious Christian scholar, and an intelligent guy. I'm tired of atheists acting like they're geniuses and talking shit on everyone else. I'd rather have Billy Graham as a neighbor than some art fag snooty atheist. BOO ATHEISTS.

FatFatuousNation - 2008-01-02
Hate to break it to you Billy, but C.S. Lewis has been dead for half a century. Even if we held a little sťance for him, his theological arguments are quaint by modern standards.

In our ignorant past, respectable Christian apologists were commonplace, but I believe they are nearing extinction, with hardy little weeds like Behe hanging on here and there.

Nowadays, you *might* be smarty if you believe in Jesus. But the odds are against it:

EvilHomer - 2008-01-03
But does that tell us something about the inherent relationship between intelligence and religion, or merely between trends in modern Western education and religion?

Now don't get me wrong, I'm as godless as the next hellbound beardo, but I'm leery of using "intelligence" to draw inferences about matters like this. Being smart doesn't stop you from being dead wrong, and being educated may simply mean that you've inhereted erroneus beliefs and intellectual biases from your culture. Putting my monocle on for a moment, you may want to check out Michael Shermer's book, "Why People Believe Weird Things"- it does an excellent job of illustrating the pitfalls that even (and indeed, especially) highly intelligent individuals can fall into.

Besides, even if the data was true (it is, but it's highly misleading, as the questions make no distinction between deism, watery theism, and actual atheism, thereby grossly inflating the number of "non-believers" out there) and it mattered (it doesn't), you're still left with the fact that there ARE smarties who believe in Jesus. So again, why not grab one of them and "throw him to the lions", so to speak? It'd be much more interesting than listening to angry atheists bouncing talking points off of one another while jerking each other vigorously.

futurebot - 2008-01-03
Wait, so we're allowed to resurrect the dead and CS LEWIS is the best you can do for a "Christian scholar"?

I'd like to see how they deal with zombie Kierkegaard.

EvilHomer - 2008-01-02
OK, so Hitchens is probably War. But what about everyone else? Which one of them is Famine? Which is Death?
GravidWithHate - 2008-01-02
Dawkins is an evolutionary biologist, so he's probably Pestilence. I'd say Harris is Famine and Dennet is Death, but those are pretty arbitrary.

svraz - 2008-01-02
Isnt Hitchens on the centre right these days?
svraz - 2008-01-02
oops this was supposed to be up there where they were talking about seating arrangements.

Hakujinjoe - 2008-01-03
nope, hitchens is on the far left

Jeff Fries - 2008-01-03
He circumnavigated

Billy Buttsex - 2008-01-03
NO, HITCHENS IS THE ONE SECOND FROM THE RIGHT

EvilHomer - 2008-01-03
He claims he's still on the left, but we know better. He's like a quasi-libertarian version of Joe Lieberman.

FangoftheCobras - 2008-01-02
I am atheist and I think these guys are pricks.
