Scynne What a strong, revolutionary political statement...with COMPUTERS!!!
Cinnamon Imperialist I know its lame but using old-school vector graphics to show nuclear war still creeps me out. Something about representing the widespread death and destrustion of billiions of people with colorful little dots and lines.
It also reminds me of ISBM, a free PC game I used to play on my 8088.
Syd Midnight It's too bad they had to ruin Defcon with gameplay and music, there's something about watching nuclear apocalypse on vector graphics that's super terrifying
ZawBanjito It's impossible to understate how much this movie blew my mind when I was a kid. I can recall actually shaking with emotion at this point and walking around for weeks afterwards fulminating to bemused adults and annoyed peers about the dangers of nuclear armageddon. I believe the Cold War had been over for a year or two at that point...
Squeamish To this day, the line "The only winning move is not to play" still sends chills up my spine.
Didn't this movie also star Jamie Farr of M*A*S*H fame? Or was that a different low-budget 80's movie about intelligent computers?
Adham Nu'man So, nuclear war starts when any given country fires 45 nukes into 15 neighboring countries at random... neat!
HURF BLURF DUH It's a time-lapsed simulation, dummy. In real time, that process can take up to 10 minutes.
TeenerTot Every time I see Prof. Falken in this scene, I think he's Willy Wonka on the boat ride.
The GOOD Willy Wonka. Not the Depp garbage.
dancingshadow This movie had a huge impact on me. It's still just great.
Caminante Nocturno Some of those scenarios did not seem all that possible or worth considering.
I'm just saying.
j lzrd / swift idiot Far East Strategy?
Middle East War?
Isreal Palestine Escalation?
India Pakistan War?
Do you remember living during the Cold War? They're not entirely far-fetched to the point of fiction.
AdamOfEden watch this and then try to play Defcon. you just feel bad.
