It seems pretty egotistical, but he was actually a modest individual, and was very reluctant to portray himself.
Absolutely great man. He led the fight to get post-traumatic stress disorder to be accepted as a real condition. He died in a plane crash about 20 miles from me, and the walking trail to his memorial stone warns of bears.
It doesn't show it in this scene, but in the real-life battle, it was so hot on that tank that the skin on his hands melted to the handle of the machine gun. Hardcore, man. Hardcore.
Audie Murphy, you're my hero.
Remember that scene in Predator where they all fire at the jungle for 5 minutes straight? This was the inspiration for that.
