THE SKY ISN'T ACTUALLY FALLING, BY THE WAY. JUST TRYING TO BE CLEAR ON THAT.

ALSO, DISREGARD THAT FOURTH CALL ABOUT WOLVES, ALL UP EATING ME AND MY SHEEP N' SHIT; THE WAR ON WOLVES WAS A SUCCESS, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

Define "Nation".
Cleaner82
And that is EXACTLY how he would try to weasel out of this clearly hypocritical statement.

dr_rock
Maybe he thinks that the first 3 years of a century don't count?
StanleyPain
This is nothing. In another speech (or maybe the same one) he referred to the Russia/Georgia thing as the "first great international crisis" post-9/11.
Camonk
As five-star stupid as this is, I also thought that was just pure, pure gold.

Xenocide
John McCain has been led to believe that the 21st century began in 2004.
Cena_mark
Georgia is a sovereign nation ran by democratically elected leaders, Iraq was ruled by a dictator. Plus we didn't invade them, we liberated them. We gave Iraq back to the Iraqis, I don't think Russia plans to be as nice to Georgia.

dr_rock
What's that smell? Oh, troll droppings.

glasseye
Oh Cena_mark, you keep proving that you're even stupider than the meathead "wrasslers" that you admire. It's so cute.

Syd Midnight
The S. Odessans wanted to secede from Georgia and become part of Russia. It was Georgia that started attacking them. Read a few news articles on the event before jumping to the "Russia invaded so it must be evil" conclusion.

Besides, Iraq was a sovereign nation too when we invaded them. And we didn't just invade the Kurdish region that wanted us to, we took the whole damn country and toppled the government. (And now we're fighting the Kurdish insurgents because they hate us, they just hated Saddam even more.)

IrishWhiskey
I'd be more inclined to believe the "gave Iraq back to Iraqis" bit, if the Iraqi people's and government's requests for us to leave weren't met with laughter.

We don't have a moral underpinning for which countries we support and which actions we sanction. Pretending otherwise usually just results in grim comedy.

Rodents of Unusual Size
Cena_mark then why the fuck didn't we go after North Korea? Remember their A Bomb test? Bush let the North Koreans have the bomb.

Cleaner82
"But were we wrong to invade? No." -- John McCain in his 2004 artice, "Despite Everything, the Right War"

As a side note, it's been deleted from his site but is still present in the Google cache. Look it up in spite of McCain's best intentions. In conservative America, you see, 'truth' is a dirty word.

StanleyPain
Hey, cena-mark, do me a favor and tell me exactly where and when we gave Iraq back to the Iraqi people, could you? I haven't been following the news lately, so I missed the entire US military pulling out of there.

StanleyPain
Oh, I would also like to point out that McCains loudmouthed involvement in this whole thing is actually against the law. The Logan Act to be precise which was enacted in order to discourage exactly the kind of asshattery that can come from someone engaging in their own style of unofficial diplomacy when they have something to prove (like during an election season). Nothing will come of it, no one has the balls to actually call him on it, but it's still worth noting.

Mark Cena: When are we leaving Iraq? I would like to know. You just seem to know so much about the world.

Yours,
Baleen

In his defense, the man's not stupid. It isn't that he forgot any of these other invasions.

Its just that he subscribes to the "George W Bush" theory of responsibility: "It can't be wrong or a bad idea if we're the ones doing it".
Randroid
I think you forgot that the GOP considers senility to be no impediment to running a country.

Caminante Nocturno
I'm certain that immediately after saying that, his mind frantically dashes through as many reasons as possible to exclude Iraq.
Rodents of Unusual Size
It's not a real country...they had sanctions! And what about that funny language they speak! There's something foreign about it!

Nyms Lives!
The Daily Show showed a clip of the US ambassador to the UN using almost these same words. His solution to the glaring hypocrisy was to throw the words "in Europe" on the end of each sentence.

glasseye
Perhaps becoming the republican nominee automatically makes people lose 50 IQ points.
Desidiosus
You think he had that many to start with?

glasseye
Well he certainly seemed more articulate than the shrub.

Lurchi
He manages to be stupid, arrogant and condescending in a completely different way than Bush.
FeeFiFoFoTheFifeFifeBrown
Senile. The term is senile.

The Republicans are taking their Reagan nostalgia a bit too far, is all.
DMKA
Alzheimer's fucking rocks.
