I don't think cheese is a common asian food. Could be wrong. What I do know is that this needs a 'Powdered Toast Man' tag.

Cheese is supposedly pretty disgusting to Asians & let's face it in America pretty much everything is offered with the option of melted cheese on it.

I remember at my old job taking a very lactose-intolerant Chinese executive to an upscale burger joint. In spite of his perfect English, he had never been outside of China before a year prior, when he had to stay in Philly for a month, and then the current trip to Southern California. He summarized America as having "many people who are very fat and very rude. Probably because there is cheese on everything." He had some theory that no one could really digest cheese, and the resulting bowel problems made people irritable.

Then they brought out his chicken with a slice of swiss on it that he had specifically rejected, and the house salad had big chunks of bleu cheese or something. He refused to let them fix it, saying he just wanted the side of rice anyway (and then later telling us the food didn't look like something he had any interest in, cheese or no). He liked french fries, but couldn't eat any of them because they had parmesan on them. Later they brought him a slice of cake to make amends. We had to stop him, fork in hand, before he tried the cheesecake.

Even behind the forced manners, you could tell from his eyes that he would have killed every single person there if he could.

Processed "cheese" can be found in Japan, but real cheese is really rare. Even the pizzas have very little on them if at all.
